How To Feed Your Family For $100 a Month: Bartering With The Neighbors

Last night I received a phone call from my neighbor Mrs. Hillbilly.  She was fixing to put supper on the table and was out of ketchup.  What a tragedy. So I told her “Sure, I have some extra ketchup, come on over…

When she arrived I had two varieties of ketchup for her to choose from. Heniz and Hunt’s.  Both bottles were picked up for free {with coupons of course} a few months ago.  Personally I prefer the Heniz brand. But Mrs. Hillbilly? Oh Boy…  She’s a stickler when it comes to high fructose corn syrup.  She is adamant about not serving her family ANY products with high fructose corn syrup and she makes a point to read EVERY LABEL.  Sadly, many of my offers to barter with her have gone down hill because of it.  But lucky for me, this time around I had a nice stockpile of the pureed tomato goodness on hand to work with.

Thanks Mrs. Hillbilly!  It was fun bartering with you.
