Napa Valley, California – Rubicon / Inglenook Winery Estate

So I’ll admit it.  I am a sucker for tours of large estates and gardens.  I love old buildings and gardens that stretch as far as the eye can see.  Not that I would ever want to live in one {or maintain it}, but still, they are fun to visit.  And sometimes, if I’m lucky, I can pick up a few ideas while I’m there.

Would you look at these grape arbors.  Holy canolies.  I wonder how old the grapevines are.

If I had a house built out of stone, I would definitely plant ivy to cover it’s walls. Simply gorgeous!

Inside the estate, parts of the ground and upper floors are dedicated to vintage movie memorabilia as well as old machinery.  They even have the original accounting and visitor registries.  The one above holds the signatures from Clarke Gable and Jean Harlow from when they visited the estate.
