The Girl and I are watching the British documentary Farm for the Future tonight.

Wildlife film maker Rebecca Hosking investigates how to transform her family’s farm in Devon into a low energy farm for the future, and discovers that nature holds the key. {bbc.uk}

If you watch it, let me know what you thought about it in the comment section below.

Have a great weekend.

  1. Her wildlife filming (and accent!) are amazing. I’m 5 minutes in and hooked!

    That was a great one. Thanks for posting it! A local food co-op ran a film festival a few years back, and I got to see some really inspiring docs. But it’s been a while!

  3. Wow, Mavis, what an amazing video! It is inspires me to do better with just the small yard I have here at home.
    Try looking up Louis Bromfield’s books. He did much the same thing on his farm in Ohio as Ms. Hosking showed us in this film.

  4. Thank you! Hopeful for the future. btw, thought of you and the OCD with the “biodiverse gardening” ha ha

  5. Thank you for sharing this! My husband and I love learning about permaculture. You have a wonderful site with so many great ideas.

  6. Thanks for sharing. This was my first time seeing this film. I’m currently studying permaculture so it was very incouraging to see others having so much success with that system.

  7. We watched this last night…was really good! I’m still not convinced that fossil fuels are the cause of the earth warming (I think it’s a natural cycle), however, I live where oil production it popping up everywhere around my house….and I have to say, I don’t really like it. Personally, I would like to get off the grid as much as possible so that we (as a family) are not as dependent on other people, businesses, and government. Who would of thought that a mixture of grass was the answer to feeding livestock, even throughout winter! This is great, because hay prices have nearly quadrupled over the last couple of years! All-in-all, I am totally on-board with anything that promotes God’s natural design…it’s the best!

    Thanks for posting this Mavis!
