A big thanks to Linda from facebook for passing this story along. I’m sure you watched the clip, but if not, it’s about my favorite subject: food waste. A student in Maryland who was upset by the amount of food that went to waste each day in his college cafeteria started what he called the Food Recovery Network. He partnered first with his own school and then with others to take the uneaten food and donate it to the needy.
I think this is awesome–plus, I must be hungry, because the pasta they are dishing up in the video looks super tasty. It would seriously make me sick to know that that was all getting thrown away, instead of dished up on the plate of someone who would otherwise go hungry.
If you are a college student and are interested in getting a chapter of The Food Recovery Network started in your area, go HERE for more information.
Did you know about this program? Awesome. Just awesome.
