Super Bowl Recipes – Kentucky Fried Chicken Cole Slaw

If you are planning on serving up some Ribs, Chicken Wings, or Weenies this Superbowl Sunday, don’t for get the cole slaw. This recipe for copy kat Kentucky Fried Chicken cole slaw is da’ bomb!

And it’ good.  Oh so good.  Just like the real thing.  Except it doesn’t come in a Styrofoam container.

Ingredients {slightly adapted from this recipe}

8 cups finely diced cabbage
1/4 cup diced carrots
3 tablespoons onions, minced {I like onions!}

1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup milk {I used 2%}
1/2 cup mayonnaise {I had to borrow this from Mrs. Hillbilly}
1/4 cup buttermilk {How to Make Buttermilk}
1 1/2 tablespoons white vinegar
2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice


Wisk together the dressing and set aside.  Finely chop the cabbage, carrots and onion and mix together in a large bowl.  Pour the dressing over the vegetables and combine.  Cover and refrigerate overnight.

  1. I have made coleslaw with apple cider vinegar before, it’s really good, I would try substituting that and maybe even honey for the sugar, just to be different :)
