bits and bobs: A random assortment of things; small remaining pieces and things
The wind and cold air is back. 🙁
The good news is the snow is continuing to melt. But the wind! No thank you. I spent about 5 minutes outside yesterday hanging wool on the clothesline before coming inside and trying with all my might to get warm.
It seriously took me 2 solid hours to warm up. It was nuts.
The HH had to go out and get the wool off the line so I could pop it into the dryer for the last 10 minutes {to fluff it up}.
I mostly spent yesterday rug hooking, listing new bundles on Etsy and then wasting time online.
We are only a few weeks away from having the ugly driveway, concrete ramp and junky walkway dug up. The landscapers called to confirm the start date and I am SUPER excited to get moving on this project.
Last fall the HH tore out all the {dead and too close to the house} hedges and daylilies… Or so we thought.
I spied some daylily tubers popping through the soil yesterday. Can you believe it!? I am convinced you cannot entirely get rid of daylilies. Those tubers go deep!
Fingers crossed the landscapers will be able to find ALL of them and get rid of them for good. A girl can dream, right?
Yesterday while I was wasting time on the internet I checked my favorite website of all time John Bray Estates and found another amazing place in Port Isaac.
Even though the interior is pretty plain, it checked all the boxes as far as dream houses go.
AGA in the kitchen. Yep.
A bathtub in the bedroom? Yes please!
A view you could never get bored with and a wee garden out back. Isn’t it dreamy? Couldn’t you just live there forever? I know I could.
And last but not least… Slippers. Mine are starting to fall apart {and get holes on the sides} and I’m going to need a new pair soon.
Do you wear slippers? If so, what kind? The last three pairs I’ve had have been Haflinger {wool slipper, cork bottom} but I think I’m ready to try something new.
If you have a pair that you love, I’d sure love to hear about them.
Hey! It’s Thursday already. Only one more day until the weekend! Yee-Haw.
Have a good one,
~Mavis

Montana High Plains Sheepskin slippers are wonderful. Handmade in the USA, super toasty, hard soles, cozy and comfortable, and simple. They fit tight initially, but then they stretch and mold to your feet. I grew up wearing these and still treat myself to a new pair every five years or so. They are pricey for slippers, but oh so worth it.

Following this because I wear slippers but have such a tough time finding any I like. So far, the best I’ve found are actually the Costco shearling slippers they sell every year. Most slippers hurt my back, but I like the Kirkland ones because my foot doesn’t flop around inside it & it has a lip on the heel to keep my foot stable (I sized down). They’d be perfect if they had some arch support, which is why I’m still on the hunt. I’ve avoided wool slippers because every review I see shows how easily they get holes.
Side note: what jeans are those? They look like actual denim & not just a bunch of thin stretchy fabric. I like them!

The jeans are from Citizens of Humanity {ridiculously overpriced, but you can often find them on eBay for a fraction of the retail price} style: Blaine Vintage Straight.
They use old school heavy denim like the jeans I wore when I was a teenager. No elastic, not thin, no stretch.

UGG slippers are the way to go
Mavis Butterfield says
I used to wear Ugg slippers but they are made in China now and have changed the cut and are too loose on me. Same with the boots. 🙁

Bought a pair of slide type for me and regular for hubby.
Amazing!
Arch support is customizable by inserts, we wear them indoors and out.
I live in slippers at home and generally have at least 3 pairs in rotation at any given time. LLbean has always been my favorite until now!

These are my favorite too!

I received Allbirds slippers for Christmas. They are off-the-chart comfortable.

Easy Spirit Travel Time clogs. I buy fun colors and wear them around the house as slippers. Much better support for my feet and knees. Watch for sales.

Wow. Just waisted an hour looking at houses for sale in Port Issac lol. Love the sink in the laundry room with the built in dish drain. The coffee table by those dreamy blue chairs resembles the curves on your coveted tea table. Wondering if you would keep the wall paper in the hallway?

That website sucks you in, doesn’t it? I love it. Like looking through a magazine and always wonderful house ideas. Love all the crazy wallpaper too!

Haflinger for the win! One pair lasts me many years. I buy them two pairs at a time but don’t often change them out. I used to buy Minnetonka Moccasins since they are local to me but I need slides to keep from getting blisters on my narrow heels and they didn’t have those the last time I checked.

Crocs. I am susceptible to plantar fasciitis, and Crocs provide the support and structure I need. If it’s cold, I wear socks with them.
Those Glerups are super cute! Do they have really good arch support?

I got tired of the boiled wool clogs developing holes 🙁 so switched to leather or suede ones. Love my Stegmann Graz, Haflinger Snowbird and Birkenstock Zermatt. Tried a bunch of others but just couldn’t find any that gave enough arch support and had leather or suede options
