Yesterday we had lunch with our old neighbors Kiln Guy and The Chef at their place and boy did it look different from the last time we were there {which I think was only a few months ago}.
For starters the driveway was lined with plant starts! š My first thought when I spotted them was who eats that much yogurt!? š
Well apparently Kiln Guy and The Chef do. Every morning. I told the HH maybe we should give it a whirl. Iām not usually a fan of fat free dairy products but Iām willing to give fat free Greek yogurt a try.
There were oodles of plant starts in Solo cups too. Iāve started plants in Solo cups before and the cups work great. Plus you can re-use them.
Is it weird that I was totally jealous of their giant pile of mulch? Our yard is so small we buy it in bags now.
Kiln Guy said heās been super busy in the garden lately.
They had a local carpenter make them a few raised garden boxes and I think they look great. They filled the bottom of the garden boxes with logs {clever!}.
All their vegetable starts are looking really good too. The Kiln Guy said he planted Black Krim and San Marzano tomatoes. Just those two varieties. I have a feeling there will be a lot of home canned tomato sauce in the pantry this winter.
They even have eggplant and zucchini plants in grow bags. {Maybe I should get a few?}
We had waffles and bacon for lunch.
And then The Kiln Guy showed me his new workstation down in the basement.
Last winter I gave him a glass star and ever since then heās been trying to figure out how to make them on his own. I think he said he has made 8 glass stars so far.
I think he said that start to finish each star is taking him about a hour to make. He said he’s getting faster with each one and he’s almost ready to start an assembly line to make the process go even faster.
Look at this star!!! He’s doing great, don’t you think? I told him we should do a craft show or something together this winter.
I LOVE new hobbies! And I LOVE poking around other peopleās gardens too. š
Have a great weekend everyone, enjoy the sunshine. And go easy on the glitter.

the stars a beautiful!! do you need a klin to melt the glass?
Kiln Guy says
No, these are done as stained glass: cut the glass, wrap with copper foil, burnish the foil then solder.

Love your backyard view and raised beds.

Those glass stars are lovely!
That is a lot of Greek yogurt! I eat some every day in my oatmeal or smoothies, and by itself with berries or a little honey. I probably go through 3-4 tubs a month. I think they must outpace me, though.

I think fat free Greek yogurt is very good. I just made my first batch in the slow cooker and it was just as good as the brands I usually buy! It was thick and delicious, especially with a bit of honey or hm strawberry jam stirred in.

Those stars are beautiful. Their yogurt containers could have been collect over a period of time. We go through one to two container a month for the two of us.

Black Kris and San Marzano are two of my favourite tomatoes. I grow some of my veg in fabric grow bags, and they do well. Check them daily as they dry out more quickly. They come in several sizes, and thereās one for potatoes. Testing those this year.

Great garden and beautiful stars. Do let us know if you collaborate on a craft show, where and when. Don’t you miss your waterfront yard?? Have a great weekend everyone.

All I could think about reading this was your āreligiousā garden! Hopefully this year will yield a good supply in your new place. That was such an ordeal and all that rain.
Love the stars! He did a great job.

Lol
I remember that “:religious family sized garden” too. What a lot of work.

I grow most of my veg in fabric grow bags right now. They do quite well. Thereās even one for potatoes-Iām testing it this year. If you use them, check them daily as the grow bags tend to dry out quickly particularly in hot weather.

Mavis, do try the Greek yogurt. It’s super creamy, almost pudding-like. Let us know if and when you try some.
