Online Things
I made progress on my latest rug {but didn’t finish it like I had hoped too}. I put together a new video: How to make wooden buoys and posted it to my youtube channel.
I drew some patterns and cut the wool for my next {new} design and will be working on it as soon as I finish the giant whale rug.
My kitchen table is nearly cleaned off and I’m feeling organized again so it was a good week!

House Things
Every time I ask my husband to make another set of buoys I tell him it’s the last set I need. And he believes me every single time. But then I come up with another idea and well, he loves me. 🙂
The next big house project is the bathroom tile.
We still have another month before that starts but once it’s done I’ll be painting like a crazy person around here.
House Goals
- Paint The Inside Of The House {including closets!}
- Paint The Interior Window Trim
- Remodel Bathroom #1 {scheduled!}
- Freshen up Bathroom #2 {Just need to install the facet and hang something on the wall}

Garden Things
We harvested a few strawberries and a good amount of sugar snap peas this past week. Nothing major, but enough to enjoy in salads and snacking.
Growing 365 pounds of fresh vegetables seems sort of like a pipe dream at this point but I suspect once the tomatoes and squash numbers start coming in it will seem more likely.
Here’s what we’ve harvested so far:
Sugar Snap Peas 15.8 ounces
Strawberries 5 ounces
Garden Goals
- Grow 365 pounds of food
Install a side yard {flower} garden{DONE!}Make a Potting Bench{decided I didn’t need one}MakeFIND a Garden Cart to sell flowers/veggies out front{DONE}

Travel Things
Jen and I have made our travel arrangements for meeting up with our group to hike Zion and other areas this fall.
The last time I did a major hiking trip was when I was 18 so I should probably get some sort of training in before we go. Someone suggested yoga. Another person suggested climbing stairs.
And of course, there is getting out and actually hiking. I wonder how much time I need to train for this crazy adventure. 1 month? 2 months?
Jen said it’s not like rolling out of bed and walking 20 miles around the city and popping in for pastries. And I believe her.
Gaaa. What have I done!? Why did I agree to do this?
- Explore more of the great state of Maine
- Go on a painting holiday {BOOKED!}
- Québec City {Accommodations and 1 tour booked!}
- Travel Overseas {All accommodations and 4 events are booked!}
Send the HH on a vacation{He went to NYC!}- Hiking in Zion National Park
Marriage Things
We went on a ton of walks and drives this past week. It was fantastic. It’s been too hot though for the puggle princess to be outside much.
I put out the buoy trolley on the fourth of July and it was a BIG success!! The HH was shocked at how many buoys people bought. I thought it was hilarious.
We’ve also had loads of people out front taking pictures in front of the house. It’s like they’ve never seen a lobster on a house or something. 😉 It’s been so much fun!!
All in all, it was a good week. We didn’t really get a lot done, but we sure had fun.
How about YOU? Anything exciting happening at YOUR place this weekend?
~Mavis

Yes, walking into the kitchen and going out for ice cream definitely counts! Sounds like a perfect recipe to me! Glad you had a great week at the lobster house!

Try Nordic walking. You can find poles on Amazon for around $25. They come with different feet to change out for walking on pavement, trail, etc. They really make a difference in how you walk, plus give you a little more stability on uneven terrain. Videos on YouTube show the method.

The buoys probably make a good souvenir for the tourists. The little leftover wedges look like doorstops.
Julie says
I thought the little wedges looked like they could be used for SOMETHING!?! Little door stops, or snorkel flippers……. 🙂 🙂
Mavis, I think you will LOVE Zion!

Back in the 50s when I was a kid in Biddeford my father had a side hustle turning lobster buoys for the fishermen down in Biddeford pool. His handiwork was quite popular. He sold the unpainted buoys and each lobsterman would paint them their own colors. We never thought to keep one for a souvenir, I wish he had.

Your house looks like it was originally an old house with a big front porch that was gutted and modernized.. at first I thought it was newer but the style suggests some age buried in there!
