The last little bit about our trip to Canada I wanted to share with you is our visit to Fromagerie Ferme Audet {which translates to Audet Farm Cheese Dairy} on the little island of de-l’Île-d’Orléans.
I don’t know about you, but I LOVE when you’re driving around someplace new and you see a shop and decide to stop in simply based on the signage!!
There were free {delicious} cheese samples, goats and a garden out back. What more could you possibly ask for?
A real cheese shop in an old {house?}. I loved it.
We were offered 4 samples of different cheeses in the sampling room, and we tried them all. After sampling, we headed into the cheese shop for a look around.
We ended up purchasing crottin and feta and a little tomme cheese to bring back with us. I LOVE buying food directly from people who actually make or grow something themselves.
There is so much more pride and knowledge about what they are selling that makes the whole experience better in my opinion.
Fromagerie Ferme Audet was no different. The girls behind the counter were great! After we made our purchases they invited us to go out back to take a look at their goats and the garden.
There were also a few tables set up out back which is always nice for visitors.
Yes! I bought a tin with red fish and mustard. We haven’t opened it yet so I don’t know what it tastes like but I thought it was so unusual that I just had to get it.
The back of the cheese shop. I could have stayed here all afternoon!
I thought having a large garden anywhere near a pen of goats was pretty brave. 🙂
Hello little goaty goat!!!
Our visit to Fromagerie Ferme Audet was a big success and if you ever find yourself near the island of de-l’Île-d’Orléans, I highly recommend stopping by.
We were only on the island for a few hours, but I can see why people build an entire vacation around visiting all the small farmstands and shops there.
Have a great weekend everyone, stay cool. 🙂
