I mentioned the other day that I am on assignment here in London for a bit. In a nut shell my mother, although well traveled, has never been to London and wanted to go … With me as her tour guide. 🙂
So here we are, staying at my favorite hotel and taking in the sights {and a few excursions as well} in one of my favorite cities in the world.
Yesterday we hopped on the Le Grand Bus Tour of London for their “Best of London” tour around Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Royal Albert Hall, and Trafalgar Square.
There was also a quick peek around Chinatown {which I had never seen before}.
The tour service was good and the seats were fantastic. If you are looking for a nice drive around London I don’t think you could find a nicer {last minute, easy to book} outfit.
The narration of the audio tour and the fun facts they mention was well done and it was really kind of fun to sit up top in a nice covered coach for a birds eye view.
Typically when I travel I walk everywhere, sometimes up to 10-15 miles a day when I’m in London and well, my mom wasn’t up for that so we’ll be doing a lot of taxis and a few tours on this trip instead.
The most interesting thing about this tour for me was really seeing just how close the buses get to the people and cars on the streets.
How they are able to drive in city traffic, make all those turns and not hit anyone especially when people are darting out to cross the street when they shouldn’t be was pretty fascinating to me.
Could we have gotten the same view on a less expensive bus? Of course. But this was the Le Grand Bus Tour of London and it was a great experience.
There are so many ways to see the city!! I’m looking forward to going places and doing things a different way this time around.
I hope you have a great day,
~Mavis

How special! I have tried to take my mom on trips recently but at this age she is more comfortable at home. I hope you enjoy this wonderful trip and the time and experiences spent together!

Funny you say that about the traffic, recently went to Scotland and was amazed by how the big busy get around each other!
