So, now I have a private studio. In a place that I love, with neighbors I talk to on a regular basis and now we can have a nice sized garden again.
And projects GALORE to keep me {and the HH} busy for a long time.
HOW CRAZY IS THAT!?
I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing but there’s only so much we’ll be able to get done on the outside of the studio this fall before the weather turns.
Okay, so that’s probably a GOOD thing {for the HH}. 😉
It’s funny really. We had looked out across the {shared} driveway for a year telling each other all the different things we’d do to the place next door if it ever came up for sale.
And here we were, with keys in hand and ready to make it ours.
About a week or two before we sealed the deal I made a list of all the things I thought we’d reasonably be able to get done at the studio before it got too cold outside.
I purposely didn’t make a huge list. I wanted the whole studio project to be fun and calm.
We had been living in sort of chaos with all the wool stuff in the barn and in our home since we moved into {what would become} The Lobster House.
I was always having to clean up or pack up something to make room to be able to work on a new kit/rug/or anything really.
Honestly, it was just a huge relief knowing we’d be able to live in a normal space again. A separation of house and work. A small house to live in and a studio space for all the wool.
It really feels like the best case scenario for us at this point in our lives.
Yada yada yada.
The first thing we did {within 24 hours of getting the keys to the place} was to remove all the plastic shutters we’ve had to stare at for the past year.
And you know what? The house instantly looked SO MUCH better!!!
I scrubbed the melted plastic bits off the house and then the HH pressure washed the whole place down.
Then he made a trip to the paint store and I was going at it with a paint brush like a mad woman. We were able to scrape the peeling paint and get the front and the sides painted in just a few days.
Lucy has a new view, the HH something to keep him busy all winter and I have more painting projects on the horizon than I thought possible.
Life. It’s sort of crazy right now.
But I think in the end this is going to be a really, really good thing.
To be continued tomorrow…

This is so exciting. I’m glad you aren’t leaving the Lobster House! This is a perfect scenario- closing a door and going home to a clutter free place. Wonderful! SO excited to see your plans for it. Congrats!
