Online Things
It’s hard to believe that there are only 10 days left in 2025!!! Where has the time gone?
This past week I dyed, bundled, and listed wool on Etsy.
I also managed to hook two small rugs {that will be turned into pillows} and sat down long enough to watch the first few episodes of season three of The Crown.
I also listened to 2 audiobooks and did a great job of not picking up my phone unless I was answering a text or a call.
It was a very productive week!

House Things
Merry Christmas to me!
One of my favorite shops was having a sale and so I decided to pop by and see if the whale I had my eye on all summer was still there… And he was so I took him home with me.
I’m not sure yet if I’ll be hanging him up at The Lobster House or The Cottage but I’m so glad I have him.
Now, I just need a name. Any suggestions?

It may be a frozen tundra out there but check out this shop!!! They really went overboard and I LOVE it.
I wish I would have thought to turn our house into a gingerbread house. So stinkin’ clever!! Spray foam for icing, mixing bowls for gumdrops… What’s not to love?

Kitchen Things
This past week I shared not one, not two, but THREE recipes on the blog.
- Cranberry Orange Scones {So good!}
- Uncle Ben’s Wild Rice Stuffing {Different!}
- The BEST Ginger Molasses Cookies {Two please!}
Sharing 12 recipes this year was supposed to be an easy goal to achieve.
But then we started eating salads pretty much every day and didn’t stop and well… the new recipe goal was kind of put to the side.
I finally got my mojo back though and hung out in the kitchen long enough to make a few things. I still have one more recipe to share by the end of the year but I know this goal will be one I’ll be able to check off my list.
And that feels pretty good. 🙂
Kitchen Goals

Travel Things
I don’t think there will ever be a time when I’m not scheming for my next adventure. That $700 use it or lose it by August 2026 travel voucher is burning a hole in my pocket and I can hardly stand it.
Wouldn’t it be totally cool if I could get TWO free tickets out of it? Yes, yes it would!
- Explore more of the great state of Maine
- Go on a painting holiday

Marriage Things
The weather this past week was a mixed bag. Snow, rain, wind, sunshine we had it all. Luckily we had two really good walking weather days that we were able to take advantage of.
I have to keep reminding the HH that we need to get outside every chance we get. January and February around here are crazy cold and we’ll be stuck inside here pretty soon.
It was a good week though. We ran some errands together, went on walks and pretty much stayed out of trouble. 😉
10 days left in 2025. Can you believe it!?

Names . . . Old Salt, Knots, or something related to Adventure since you love to travel, but I can’t think of the right word . . .
Christa H. says
How about:
Sir Whaleington
Captain Ahab (Moby Dick)
Whaley Nelson
Old Salty (adding onto what Deb from Ohio said)
Lita K Bodemer says
I would call the whale, “Arnold.” It’s a sensible name. Also, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I know this has nothing to do with this post but I can’t find it anywhere. You mentioned the perfect white Benjamin Moore paint color what is the name of it? I can’t seem to find a white that’s right for my daughter’s room. Maybe the next website update you could add a house projects tab? I love watching you transform these homes and the adventures you’ve had remodeling. Walter is a great name.

Chantilly lace. Eggshell for the walls, semi- gloss for the trim. Happy painting! 🙂

I searched “famous whales in Maine history”.
I propose Salt or Salty, in honor of “a foundational figure in whale research, a frequent visitor to Stellwagen Bank (near Maine/Cape Cod), and with generations of documented descendants, including her recent calf, Saline.”
I like the idea of a matriarchal whale! And “Salty the Whale” is pretty cute. And she must be feeling salty to swallow a sailboat like that…
Jen F. says
I would call the little man “Timothy.”
Janie says
How about “Whalen”. lol
Merry Christmas ,
Janie
