First of all, peanut butter on a Ritz is pretty much the best snack ever. Peanutty, salty, a little crunch. Yep. It’s pretty amazing.
And while I’m not too picky about peanut butter brands, I am picky about texture.
So my quick question: Does your household agree on creamy vs crunchy? Or are you a two texture kind of family? I LOVE creamy peanut butter. But the HH? He likes the crunchy stuff.
What’s the peanut butter situation at YOUR house? Curious minds have to know.

Barbara says
I’m crunchy and husband is creamy.
SueD says
We’re a two type of pb household. The OH prefers creamy and I prefer crunchy. The puppies don’t seem to care either way as long as they get some. For baking, I usually use the creamy.
Lisa in Maine says
same. My family prefers smooth, but give me some crunchy. Dogs will happily take either.
Laura Z says
We like them both, but lately I’ve been making peanut butter by dumping a jar of Aldi roasted peanuts into the food processer and letting it rip until it’s creamy. Tastes just like the stuff you grind yourself that cost 3x as much. 🙂
Rachel B says
Everyone prefers chunky, but I find creamy goes a lot further. I normally buy creamy, but will pick up chunky if there is a good deal.
Erin says
I definitely prefer crunchy, but I’ll eat either. It has to be the good stuff, though, with just peanuts & salt. Hubby eats both, but I’d guess he prefers creamy by the way he plows through a jar when we have creamy on hand.
Mark says
We’re a creamy with honey household here.
Nan says
Definitely creamy but I like Jiff and always on original Ritz no fancy stuff!
Paula says
We like Jif. I’m smooth and my husband is crunchy. So, we buy both. The dogs like both.
Nancy Settel says
Well of course only creamy peanut butter around here (and on a Ritz) not sure what husband prefers (he never said) but after 47 years all he gets is creamy peanut butter. After all these years I think he goes through more than I do. We both seem to just get a spoon and take a bite or 2 out of the peanut butter jar. Does that make us purists?
Kim says
I love skipping peanut butter I .put a jar by my bed and a spoon so I can take a couple bites almost every night
Rosaleen says
Crunchy! We will eat smooth if crunchy is unavailable. Our preferences run to no additives, just peanuts and a little salt, then I stir in a bit of ground flax to stabilize the oil.
Cindy R says
I like crunchy and my husband eats creamy!
Kim says
I like both it just depends how I feel or want at the time I want peanutbutter both are really good
Dawn says
We’re a crunchy and smooth Skippy family. I like crunchy for my peanut butter cookies.
christa says
Skippy creamy is my choice…usually right out of the jar on a spoon. The brand originated in my hometown of Alameda, CA in 1932, something we are very proud of!
Cecile Hoare says
Same in our house. I like creamy, hubs loves crunchy but the dog can only have creamy so us girls win ! Natural nothing added Kraft creamy peanut butter!
Carla says
Only 2 of the 5 of us eat peanut butter, but we are in agreement that creamy is the way to go!
Kath says
Jif Natural Creamy here. It’s lovely stirred into warm oatmeal for breakfast!
Stacey says
I enjoy both crunchy and creamy, but I only buy creamy because crunchy doesn’t spread as well. We also only eat natural style with only peanuts and a little salt as the ingredients. My husband converted from the crisco-laden versions for health reasons, and he has found that it tastes so much better.
Brianna says
We are crunchy (3) and creamy (2), so almost even is our house. I haven’t had peanut butter in years though because I got terribly sick from it (Salmonella) but my family still eats it. Thankfully, I was the only one who ate from that very bad jar.
Carrie says
We’ve switched to homemade (never turning back) and are now a bit of a hybrid… lightly crunchy.
Pat says
We’re a divided family – my husband has to have creamy, I can eat either but I definitely prefer crunchy.
Mary G says
I prefer crunchy! My husband is not much of a peanut butter guy, and my kids liked both when they were growing up, so I used to buy a mix. These days, I just buy crunchy.
maureen detmer says
crunchy on a bananner all the way
Ray White says
Creamy is the wat to go and put a drop of honey on that peanut butter or nutella and ritz snack.
Susan Williams says
Our household isn’t a cream/crunchy, it’s brand. I prefer Adam’s Natural (same as Smuckers Natural) and hubby prefers CostCo brand (blech!!!) So, we have both.
Stacey says
We eat the Smucker’s Natural, too. It tastes soooo good! We used to buy it from Trader Joe’s. but we like the smuckers even better.
Jaime says
I used to love crunchy growing up. Now we tend to buy fresh ground so crunchy isn’t usually an option.
Kayla says
My husband is a crunchy fan. He gets one jar about every 6 months. Everyone else is creamy – and my kids plow through PB&Js like crazy. We go through a jar of creamy about every other week. But peanut butter cookies must be made with crunchy according to everyone apparently.
Peg says
Fry/Kroger/Fry’s store brand natural (creamy) peanut butter!
Jason says
In our family, we eat both smooth and creamy peanut butter.
BUT here is an important question for you:
‘Have you ever tried peanut butter on a Vanilla Wafer?!’
It doesn’t have the same sweet & salty vibe, but it is absolutely delish if you just want a sweet bite! You have to try it!
Mavis Butterfield says
I’ve never tried that! Will have to next time we have a box of Nilla wafers in the house.
Melinda says
Family of 5 here (one young adult son, 2 teenagers)- husband and middle son don’t eat peanut butter. My oldest son will only eat crunchy, youngest son will only eat creamy. I like both.
Anna Garza says
We both like Adams Crunchy but also buy Skippy Natural to make peanut sauce.
Deborah says
We like both. Just depends on how we eat it that day. LOL
Cindy Brick says
Mavis, sometimes I wonder about you… !!!
I am crunchy. The Brick is creamy. (But I often get him to use the crunchy stuff — because that’s what I tend to buy. Tastes better in cookies.)
Mavis Butterfield says
I respectfully disagree. Creamy is WAY better in cookies.
Marijke W says
I make my own, store bought is full of harmful additives. Put peanuts in blender with desired oil and process until the consistency you like.
Jenny Young says
Creamy all the way…& I only buy Peter Pan honey roasted. A friend suggested it & I can never go back. It is so good.
Nadia says
We like both crunch and creamy, depending on what we’re using for. We love the Costco brand creamy peanut butter and the Smucker’s organic crunchy.
Patti Vanderbloemen says
Only creamy in this household…..and ONLY JIF!
SaraS says
We LOVE JIF too! And use both crunchy and creamy depending on the mood in the moment.
Christine Rose says
We are a crunchy family and jokingly refer to creamy as toothless peanut butter! I love a good Fluffernutter and always buy Fluff when visiting my sister in South Portland. Flying back to California tomorrow with two jars in my suitcase.
Tc says
I rarely eat snacks and never think about putting peanut butter on anything, but then i’m british We didn’t grow up with it. My hubby likes it, I think, but he never goes in the fridge to find it. If we even have any in there, we mostly use it to entice mice into our mousetraps. I guess if I was a peanut butter person. I would go for the crunchy because I do like salted peanuts
Melissa says
Crunchy FOREVER!!! However, we live in a smooth peanut butter region (yes, that’s a thing) so it’s harder to get crunchy peanut butter here!
Stephanie in Utah says
We are a two peanut butter household. Half of us team crunchy, half creamy. Skippy extra crunchy super chunk all the way for me! I buy the cheap store brand creamy PB for the heathen kids 😉 Just kidding, I’m just glad no one in my household is allergic to peanuts!
Sue S. says
I know, right.
Wondering when so many peanut allergies developed. When I was a kid, everyone lived on PB&J and no one had allergies. It was a lunchbox mainstay. Course thst was when we had metal lunchboxes with thermoses inside and no ice packs. Mine was a Lone Ranger one. Loved it.
Marti says
Hubby liked crunchy and I like creamy so a divided household. But the pup always gets creamy .
KC says
I like them both for different things (on hot toast: creamy for ease of quick spreading; on a banana: crunchy; for cooking: varies by dish – creamy always works but crunchy is sometimes notably better). Spouse doesn’t care, so whenever we’re going through a lot of peanut butter we have both, and when we slow down on peanut butter so it doesn’t make sense to have two jars, it’s just creamy.
Pamela Sheppard says
creamy….preferably my favorite regional supermarket store brand natural peanut better. To me it has more flavor.
Sue S. says
Definitely Skippy, Definitely creamy.
My old teeth don’t care for too much crunchy. Ritz are the best followed by Triscuits. That’s about as crunchy as I can get.
Donna says
I like crunchy from Trader Jo. Smooth for making 3 ingredient peanut butter cookies.
Sometimes I cook them in the air fryer.
Linda Sand says
Peanuts make me sick so our answer is neither.
Holly says
We are a mixed household: the adults like crunchy and the kids like creamy
