I thought I’d do a little garden show and tell today.
We had a wee burst of rain yesterday afternoon and I think the garden really needed it. Our four raised garden beds in the back are doing really, really well.
The tomatoes, especially the Roma tomatoes are really starting to gain in size.
We planted 32 tomato plants this year and we’ve got tomatoes growing on every single plant. If all goes as planned, there will be a ton of salsa in the cupboard this winter.
The carrots are taking their own sweet time.
And we just pulled up our last turnip.
But the beans are nearly ready. We’ve already snacked on a few but I suspect we should be swimming in green beans in the next two to three days.

The sweet peppers are filling in too. So far we have Jimmy’s and jalapenos. No real sign of the other ones yet though {I forgot their name}.
And our first zucchini of the season should be ready to pick tomorrow!!
And we’ve got tons of basil. Enough to share with neighbors and make pesto. I have basil growing in three different places in the yard.
And last but not least… The cabbages. I planted 6.
Five of them look really good but one looks a bit iffy. Only time will tell.

Your garden looks great! We bought a 50/50 raised bed & compost mix from a local nursery for our new beds. We worked so hard on everything & turns out the soil was a total dud. Everything was dying, so we tested it & it basically had no nutrients. Even the zucchini died! Everything in our old soil is thriving. We’ve been amending the new beds & hope for a second planting of some things. I have some cucumbers & squash/zucchini started in grow pots. Fingers crossed! We definitely won’t have any bumper crop of tomatoes or corn, sadly. I’m hoping to mix up some refrigerator pickles today, though! I’ll take what I can get!

Oh that stinks!!! I had that happen once a long time ago and it is so disappointing. 🙁 Hopefully you can squeeze in another crop this year.

Your Roma tomatoes look just like mine right now. I was just thinking I’m lucky that I can eat from the garden instead of risking the gut-exploding bacteria currently raging through America (Taylor Farms produce). Good on you.

In smokey Michigan, my tomatoes are looking so good! Planted cherry tomatoes, San Marzanos and golden something-or-others. Jalepeno and sweet banana peppers are going strong, although not quite ready for picking. My zucchini on the other hand, seems to be a dud. Lots of male flowers but nothing resembling any actual zucchini. Same as last year. The year before I had so many zucchini I didn’t know what to do with all of them. I’m so bummed – anyone know what I’m doing wrong?

Great looking garden! I’m jealous.
We have lots of grape and cherry tomatoes along with bell and jalapeño peppers currently. And the blueberries are almost ready to begin picking.
But, we planted 6 tomato plants and the results have been underwhelming:( We have several varieties and none of the tomatoes are large. We’ve been dry, but have watered regularly. The tomatoes are all about 2” -2.5” in diameter and there aren’t many blooms. We have hybrids and heirlooms and none of them are doing very well. We’ve usually had tomatoes until our first frost in late November/early December. I don’t think that will be happening this year. We have great soil, augmented by compost. Not sure what the problem is, but very disappointing. I was hoping to can some, but not sure there will be many extras. We are still enjoying tomato sandwiches, but not every day. I’ve not given up yet, but we’ll see.
