Well, you know it’s definitely the end of summer when people are putting beach chairs and kiddie pools at the end of their driveways here in Maine.
I think I spotted 3 kiddie pools yesterday on my walk. I didn’t need one, but if someone did, well, they wouldn’t have a problem finding a free one.
There’s also been a lot of furniture this summer for some reason.
Lot’s of dressers and chairs and I am absolutely convinced that a person could find everything they’d need to fill a house or a cabin alongside the road here.
So far this summer I’ve picked up a white ceiling fan, a beach towel, 100 {200?} feet of orange lobster rope and probably a half dozen other things.
But I found my best roadside find of the summer while I was walking Lucy.
Luckily I was close to home so I could carry the 3 beverage buckets and 3 wire baskets back to the house.
Check out these white scalloped buckets!!! What a find, right? I have no idea what I’m going to do with them but I knew instantly they needed to come home with me.
I’m also still not sure what I’m going to do with the wire baskets either {but I couldn’t leave them behind!}. I found something similar online and apparently they’re called “blanket baskets”.
I sure do love a good roadside find.
How about YOU? Did you find anything good along the road this summer? Curious minds want to know.

I love your description “roadside finds” because in my neck of the woods, it’s referred to as “trash picking”. I found 3 numbered Royal Copenhagen vases in a free box at the beach last week. They are from the 1970s and are gorgeous. I am mystified why the previous owners did not want them.

Love the wire baskets!!

I would have brought the baskets and tubs home with me as well! Maybe they hosted a wedding or party where they were using the containers?

Maybe it is me, but it appears each of the white containers fits into one of the wire baskets. I can envision them being used for a party. If kept outdoors wouldn’t you chance the wire rusting at some point?

My best roadside find was a pottery barn desk! We brought it home, painted it the color my daughter wanted, and now she does schoolwork on it every night after school!
Worst find? A oscillating fan — I was in college (& college student poor) and needed a fan for my bedroom in my apartment. Boy, I was excited when I found that fan on the tree lawn! Brought it home to test it out, it worked! Yay! Then, overnight the first night using it, it caught on fire! Yikes! I’ve never tried to pick up an appliance from the tree lawn since; developed a personal theory that if something like that is on the tree lawn, chances are there’s a good reason. hahahaha
PS I think in Maine they call the tree lawns hellstrips? tomato tomahto lol

I would have brought home a kiddie pool for our Golden Retriever and the baskets.

Agree. I love the buckets and baskets too! I haven’t found anything I need recently either, but have also seen some furniture. There was a really nice dining room table on the street near me just yesterday.

Those gold baskets at the end… you could also drill a hole and have tiered swag lights…or lamps 🙂

Wire baskets filled with moss and made into a hanging planter?

Do you think you could make the wire baskets into light fixtures?
Lori says
Wow! What a find. My friend has 3 wire baskets in the corner of her TV room made into lights. She is a very artsy decorator. They look gorgeous. I don’t remember where she bought them but I know they cost a pretty penny. The white buckets would make beautiful planters. Congrats on your trash picking!!

I would use those buckets to hold things in your new bathroom. Maybe the baskets, too, with some sort of cloth liner. Could build shelves for them in that “hole in the wall” space beside your bath and shower.
