While I was busy back at home painting everything white, The HH was in NYC and he said that one of his favorite places he ate {other than Kat’z delicatessen} was Broad Nosh Bagels.
New York bagels! Now that’s something I would like to try myself. 😉
He had found the place online and based on the reviews {4.8} he was prepared to wait in a long line to try a real authentic New York bagel.
Luckily though he got there early in the morning and said there was hardly a wait.
The first thing to decide of course was what kind of bagel to get.
And then what kind of cream cheese concoction to sandwich in between. Look at all those choices! I would have had a hard time picking just one.
Normally my husband doesn’t take a lot of pictures when he travels, but this time he did and I was SO GLAD because now there are about a million different cheese cheese flavors I want to try!
I never would have thought to put olives in cream cheese… But now I’m going to give it a whirl. And the sun dried tomato cream cheese looked really good too.
So what kind of bagel did my husband get?
A bagel and lox {smoked salmon and PLAIN cream cheese on a bagel}! Which is the exact same thing he eats at home.
I couldn’t believe it! Who goes all the way to NYC and gets the same thing he eats at home? It sort of made me a little crazy… And made me laugh too.
I guess we all love what we love, even if we’ve had it a million times before.
Husbands. They are better than television.
So there you have it. If you’re ever in NYC, the HH says be sure and try Broad Nosh Bagels. He loved it, and he thinks you will too. 😉

Oh my word I would have thought I had died and gone to heaven. In Delaware all we get are bagels that taste like a light and fluffy roll. My husband grew up in New York City and he has never gotten over how horrible the bagels taste here. I do remember as a little girl (when I had no idea what a bagel was) that you could buy a small tube of cream cheese and olives I loved it. Oh the jalapeno one sounds so good along with all the fruit ones. Lucky husband.

I’m impressed with the HH’s pictures. When first looking at the photos of the cream cheese I thought that was some kind of ice cream or gelato!!! Looks great!

The display they made with the cream cheese is gorgeous!

I so miss NYC bagels that I’ve decided to make my own. When we’d go back to visit family, we would bring 4 dozen bagels back home with us. And I always looked forward to having a plain bagel with lox and plain cream cheese on my first visit to the bagel shop.

Okay, so he’s not adventurous. But by ordering the same bagel he usually eats, he was better able to detect and appreciate the nuances of the New York bagel itself. It does make sense.
I would have ordered the same bagel he did, except with lots of chopped red onion.
And then I would have ordered a second bagel just to try a new flavor filling–probably the jalapeno cream cheese. YUM!

I eat cream cheese and olives ALOT, I even put it on celery or make it on a slice of toast. Yum.

Mavis, olives and cream cheese are great together. My hubby’s Aunt used to make olive cream cheese tea sandwiches. The mix of creamy, salty and briny all together. Soooo good. She would take a brick of cream cheese and a small jar of olives in a food prosessor. Give it a buzz or two and you’re done. Then spread it on the bread of choice and it’s done. Never any left overs!!

Our bagel shop has one they call Herby Turkey that I really like. Herbed cream cheese, obviously. I get it without onions but on an onion bagel. I don’t like raw onions.

Egg bagels for the win in my book! You can find them in the Seattle area, but no easily.
