On the second day of our trip we hiked in Bryce Canyon.
I don’t know if it was because my legs were sore from the day before or what but man oh man that hike was physically demanding.
Jen and I both agreed a marathon would have been easier. I think we gained about 2,200 feet in elevation on that hike too so that might have had something to do with it.
The temperature was nice, but it was super windy during most of the hike and by the end of the day it didn’t matter how much lotion I applied to my face it still wasn’t enough. My face wanted MORE.
In hindsight I should have just rolled a tube of Chapstick all over my face to protect it. Oh well, lesson learned.
My strategy for that hike was to stay as close to the front as possible.
I figured that when we did take a few minutes to catch our breath, I’d get an extra minute or two while we were waiting for everyone to come back together as a group. It seemed to work.
The rock towers {hoodoos} were pretty spectacular. It felt like we were on a movie set.
If you ever get the chance to go to Bryce Canyon, DO IT. You’ll be so glad you did. And don’t forget the trekking poles!
After a long day hiking in the canyon, we headed to our campground to set up our tents in the dirt. But that was another story all together. 🙂
On day 2 of our hike we walked 20,340 steps. Mostly uphill!!

How did your feet do with the shoes you wore? Did they provide enough support?
Mavis Butterfield says
The Altra shoes I wore were great. No problems at all. Both guides wore Altra trail shoes as well which I thought was interesting.

Flights climbed = 1??. So at least 100? Wow. And I’m going to have to search for that white headgear that person is wearing as it looks nice and airy but with lots of sun protection.

I know you had posted before about your shoes, but which Altra’s are they?
The park looks beautiful!!

Wow! The scenery is beautiful and I am so impressed and maybe jealous of your hiking. I spent the weekend walking around Quebec city and my hip has been killing me since I got back!
