After a long, dry summer, the rain is finally on its way!!! And hooray for that because it means the rain will force me to hang out inside and continue to work on my BIG list of projects.
After a summer of play it’s time to buckle down and get back to a routine but before I can do that I need to finish everything on my list.
And I’m off to a good start!
Main Bathroom
- Buy a blind {and hang it} because paper bags are SO last year. 😉
- Paint window trim
- Get all the goo off the bottom of the front of the tub where there used to be a piece of trim.
- Find some baskets {?} for the awkward laundry cubby
- Paint the bathroom door
Order 2 knobs for the back of the bathroom doorDone! Should be here in a few days.- Paint the bathroom ceiling
- Hang the sailor print {that I bought last year!} on the wall
Yesterday I busted out the canning equipment and made a batch of marmalade. I’ve had a tin of MaMade sitting in the pantry for the past year that I’ve been meaning to make. Thanks to this to-do list, yesterday was the day!!
I think I’m going to try and make a batch or two of carrot cake jam today.
Canning Cupboard
- Make apple pie filling
- Make carrot cake jam
Make marmaladeDone!
Yesterday while plugging away on my big list of projects, I did some strength training. Or at least that’s what I’m calling walking up and down the barn stairs 200 times with a backpack loaded with water bottles.
I’d go up the ladder, take down 1 star, then walk down the steps and put the star in a bin on the ground level of the barn.
Then I’d head back up the stairs and hang a wooden buoy before grabbing another star and walking down the stairs again.
When I ran out of stars I just walked down the stairs, turned around and walked back up and hung another buoy.
The plan is to finish hanging hanging the buoys {I still have about 150 to go!!} today or tomorrow. It’s a workout, albeit an odd one, that’s for sure.
The Barn
Take stars downDone!- Hang buoys from the rafters {going to need help with this one!}
- Clear out {except Lobster House decorations} and tidy up the second level of the barn
Outside
Not only did I get the back deck stained, I was also able to stain the side door platform too! And it’s a good thing too because rain is in the forecast for the next few days.
Stain the back deckDone!
I didn’t get a chance to do anything on level 3 yesterday but with the rain on its way, the painting will get done soon!
Level 3
- Paint closets
- Get all the clothing off the spare bed and into the closet
- Tidy up the room
I did my least favorite project first. Bundling and labeling the wool. This morning I’ll work on getting my next rug hooking video on youtube.
Wool Things
- Post a new video on youtube
- Make up kits/draw patterns for new design
Cut, stack, bundle wool that has been dyedDone!
I think I may have been born with a paint brush in my hand. I LOVE painting!! Yesterday I painted not only the “soon to be” gallery wall but also the walls on both sides.
Tomorrow I’ll work on the trim.
Not a bad start for my first day. Only 4 more days of working like crazy to go.
I keep telling myself it’s going to be so nice to have all these small projects done and to finally stop worrying about them.
Here’s to another productive day,
~Mavis
Odds and Ends
- Wash the old slipcovers
- Buy a “Maine” sweatshirt
- Delete 500 photos from my phone
- Clear my inbox
Paint the soon to be “gallery” wallDone!- Change gallery wall outlets from almond to white
- Make my own Van Gogh paint by number kit {the “custom kit” price + shipping is way too high}
- Plus 5 other secret mini projects that I’m going to write on the bottom of this after I print it out and put it on the fridge.
This is the week I get all those pesky little projects done! No more excuses.
Okay, gotta go. I’ve got work to do!
Peace out,
~Mavis

Gosh, I wish I had your energy and also your stick-to-it-iveness. I can make lists until I’m blue in the face but I’ll either lose it or ignore it.
