Did you grow up in the 80’s? Did you wear Esprit?
Well if you wore Esprit or had an Esprit bag {those were all the rage at my Jr. High!!} then you might want to hurry over to Costco because they’ve got Esprit crewneck sweatshirts for $16.99!!
Maybe you want one for yourself? Or maybe you are looking for something quick and easy to re-sell?
Apparently the Esprit sweatshirts are going quick and being re-sold on sites like Poshmark and eBay for $45- $60 each. How wild is that?
I didn’t buy one but I thought I’d pass along the news just in case you were interested.
Esprit bags, Benetton corduroys, Guess jeans, Jessica Mc Clintock/Gunne Sax dresses, white Levi jeans with the cuffs rolled up!!
Swatch watches! It’s so fun to see those old brands and styles pop up every now and again. It always brings back so many memories.
What were some of the brands you remember from when you were in school?
~Mavis
Fact: I LOVED my freshman year homecoming dress SO much that when I found the same one on eBay a few years ago, I bought it.
I’ll need to do a few trial runs with the Aqua Net first before I can recreate the photo though. 😉

What a great throwback. I had no idea that ESPRIT was still producing clothing!

You bet! As soon as I saw these, I went and bought the light colored one! Now bring back the big hair. I’m ready for it.;)

Beautiful young lady! I was struck by the black and gold, so close to your persisting core colors of tan and black.

Esprit was my favorite brand in the 80s, spent most of my part-time job paycheck on their clothes…I live near San Francisco and every month my friends and I would go to both the Esprit and Gunne Sax outlets. I still wear my Swatch watches from the 80s and buy new ones occasionally—they’re funky and fun!

Wow look at you! I grew up in the 70s but swatch watches were something I loved. Don’t want to go back to the flared jeans and platforms though from the 70s worn with a button down plaid shirt with a pleat in the back not a great look on me nor was the crimplene mini skirt I wore to my first high school Christmas disco! 🙂

Wishing I still had my International News sweatshirt that I wore on repeat in Jr High.

Jamie says

On that same “blast from the past” note, John Mellencamp is touring this summer. He will be on the Eastern seaboard this week and next!!! Maybe you can go to a concert for your excursion this summer.

We’ve never seen a Costco store. Only heard about them on the internet.
Karen says
OMG, Mavis, you were,(and sill are), just adorable. I love that dress!
Thanks for the throwback!

Our Costco sold out in three days! I really wanted the green one. Darn!
Mrs. M says
Such a fun throwback!
Our family couldn’t afford brand name anything, but we had a cousin that was into all the trends… loved his hand-me-downs (even the girls!).
I’m curious what month your school had homecoming. In Texas, it’s usually in the fall, but not late enough to have a Christmas tree to pose with.
Mavis Butterfield says
Late fall. The tree was always up early.

I remember I wanted the Esprit sweatshirt for Xmas and my mom said, you know for the price of that sweatshirt your brother will get 2 normal priced sweatshirts and I was fine with that HA! I still have my swatch’s. What a great post Mavis, brought back some great memories. Your dress was beautiful!!
