I can’t believe it’s the weekend already, can you? Where did this week go?
The weather here in Southern Maine has been really nice lately. So nice that all I want to do is stay outside and work in the yard or go for long walks.
Oh, and hang out on the water too.
I think sometimes I forget just how magical this place is. It’s easy to do that when you see {mostly} the same things every day.
I was trying to remember if I even went anywhere in the car this week. I don’t think I did.
The last time I went anywhere was to watch cat videos with The Kiln Guy and The Chef last Saturday. How crazy is that?
It’s just more proof I guess that I’d be happy holed up anywhere as long as I could work on art projects, drink tea and garden all day.
Summer. I will be sad to see you go. Most years I’m ready to throw in the towel by the end of July. But not this year.

It looks magical! Just being on or near the water makes everything better I always think. Have a fab weekend. Sun and showers here today and tomorrow but a sunny day all day Sunday forecast. Will be canning tomatoes at some point and some more sweet cucumber and pepper relish 🙂

Over in Meridian, Idaho here. It has been a hot, dry, and smokey summer. I am ready for a cool down. I grow mostly flowers in the big Costco pots. My little garden has gotten pretty shady over the years. I have one sunny spot I try to use and I plant a couple cucumbers and tomatoes using the Florida weave method and then the rest of the bed has flowers in front of it. I also have cucumbers growing on a trellis, out of a pot and I am trying out a small melon that seems to be doing well next to the tomatoes. The rest have gone to zinnias, hydrangeas, cosmos…all in pots. It works quite well. Maine seems like a lovely place.

Oh Maine! It looks so refreshing-here in Southern California-it is excruciatingly hot…with no end in sight. I mean 90’s. We are only a few miles from the ocean-and this is unbearable.
We escaped to Yosemite last week-and the heat followed us. We did have a wonderful thunder & lightning show, which we loved, but were also cautious for wildfires. Thankfully-none started.
Because of the change in National park reservation requirements, the park was overcrowded. No parking at many areas. A sad environmental impact I am afraid. The rangers said it has never been this crowded-only this year. Yosemite means the world to us-as so many, let’s protect it.
