The HH and I got quite a bit of work done in the garden over the weekend, and then it started to rain. In fact, according to the forecast it’s supposed to rain all week! And things were going so well.
Oh well… At least we got the lawn mowed and edged.
And the platform base in front of the barn door stained.
I was going to paint it white but then a couple of you thought it would look better stained and well, so did the HH and so that’s what we did. I think it was the right choice.
About a month or so ago I picked up a large white planter at Costco. I was planning on putting it out in front, but decided to see if it would work on the platform next to the barn door.
I think it was meant to be because it fits the space perfectly. Don’t you LOVE when that happens!? I decided to fill the pot with a few vining sugar snap pea plants I started from seed.
We’re kind of short on growing space at this house so I’m looking for some creative ways to grow as many vegetables vertically this summer as possible.
Towards the end of the month {and once it warms up a little more} I’ll add some trailing flowers around the edges of the pot for a pop of color.
I was also able to get the barn door painted before it started to rain. The HH wanted a white door and I couldn’t decide between black or red.
In the end I figured a black door would hide dirt the best so we went with that.
I ended up applying two coats of paint.
We went from this…
To this.
I’d say it’s quite the improvement, wouldn’t you?
Now all we need is a sign over the door and to get something {flowers maybe?} planted at the base of that other trellis and this spot is done.
We’re getting there… One small project at a time.
It’s supposed to rain all week, so I’m not sure we’ll be getting much done in the yard in the next few days… But there’s plenty of walls inside to paint so maybe I’ll work on that for the next few days.
What home {or garden} projects are YOU working on? Curious minds want to know.

Yea! The black door is what I voted for. The space looks fresh, clean, and updated- Great job.

I am redoing my craft room. Just ordered all new furniture – waiting on delivery. A family member is taking the old furniture. Can’t wait to get it all in place!
