I have one last photo tour for you from our crazy 48 hour adventure.
This time around I’m sharing our trip to the Normal Rockwell Museum and Studio Tour.
Back in 2011 I had the chance to see some of Norman Rockwell’s paintings up close at the Tacoma Art Museum.
Ever since then, visiting his museum in Stockbridge, Massachusetts has been on my list of things to see if I was ever in the area.
And while I didn’t snap a whole lot of photos in the actual museum itself, I did take several photos of his studio.
In addition to all the various paintings, one of my favorite parts of the museum was in the downstairs room that held the 323 Saturday Evening Post covers that he painted over the course of 47 years.
47 years!! Can you believe it? The covers were in chronological order too. Pretty cool if you ask me.
I LOVED this frame! And style of painting.
Norman Rockwell had around 20 studios in his lifetime but this particular studio was the last one he worked out of.
His last studio was an 1830’s carriage barn that was restored and filled with oodles of natural light.
The studio was moved to the museum grounds in 1986 and set up just as it was in October of 1960, when Rockwell was painting Golden Rule.
Our tour guide told us that not only did Norman Rockwell keep his studio meticulously clean, but that he always set up his paint colors in the exact same order.
Those are his actual paintbrushes!

It’s always fun to hop in the car and see new things. I’m so glad we took the time to visit all the places we did. Western Massachusetts is gorgeous.
I need to make a list of all the things we missed so we have a reason to go back. 😉

We were able to see the same exhibit when it came to Tacoma in 2011. It was amazing! I am putting this stop on my bucket list for our eventual east coast tour!

Mavis what a wonderful trip you had. Have you been to Great Barrington? Lots of his work there also besides being one of the most beautiful towns in America? We stayed at the Red Lion Inn while there and just walked and walked that town for several days. Now if you want to travel a bit farther have you thought of coming to Delaware/Pa. area? We have all about Andrew Wyeth Musuem? He is right across the border in Chadds Ford, Pa. then you could also visit here in Wilmington the Winterthur Museum that is outstanding and the gardens are award winning. If you are still standing after all of this there is Longwood Gardens just across the line also in Pa. you would never ever be sorry you went here either. It will take several days to see all this but oh my so worth it and I just know you would love it all.

Oh my! I have said often if I ever had tons of money with nothing calling its name, I would buy anything by Norman Rockwell. What an amazing , creative artist! Thanks for sharing!
