Right after the HH mowed the lawn last night he came inside and told me I should go out and pick the strawberries. I told him no way… they still had one more day to go!
I cannot believe {KNOCK ON WOOD} a bird or a squirrel hasn’t come along and taken a bite out of them yet.
First year gardens… They’re always the best. After that, the critters wise up and start nibbling.
The peonies are almost in bloom too. It’s amazing what a difference a day makes. It’s been pretty overcast and humid the past few days so I suspect that has something to do with it.
But just like that! The dreamy flower season is here. I LOVE peonies and I know next year our peony border will be bigger and better and I’m so excited about it.
You can never have enough peonies in my book.
The anemone flowers are nearly there as well. Another day or two on those and they’ll be in bloom too.
I ordered a bunch of corms but ran out of room for them and so I only planted a few in a pot {and gave the rest away}. Having a teeny tiny yard is so hard!
Maybe I need to get a few more pots for the back patio. Maybe that would help.
The first of the pea flowers.
The Kiln Guy sent me a text last night and he already has his first pea pod.
Rather than waste money on annuals every year I decided to plant a flat of chives and use those in the spots where I’d normally plant petunias.
They won’t be blooming in full force until next spring, but I figure if I started now, at least the roots would be established by the fall and I could pop them in the ground.
On my project list for today is to get the wall on the right, the space above the door and the wall with the storage closet painted.
Getting walls painted is a little tricky around here. Spaces are tight and you literally have to move everything just to paint one little section.
The walls going up the stairs need to be painted as well. But I don’t see the point of painting those walls until the tile guys have finished the bathroom and the vanity and new washer and dryer are in place.
Which won’t even happen until later this summer. Because seriously, what are the odds won’t get messed up with all that work happening?
Slim to none. 😉
Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself. Maybe it’s a stall tactic… Maybe it’s just smart thinking. Who knows.
You know what I do know though…
It’s freebie season!
I spotted these beauties last night but the HH told me a big fat NO!
And YES!!! I own a pair of jogging pants now. NOT stretch pants… But jogging pants. Yep. It’s true.
So all you ladies out there who said you would never wear a pair… It might just happen. You might just fold and buy a pair and wear them out in public.
That’s it. That’s all I’ve got for today.
Peace Out.

The squirrels got every last one of our plums this week. We tried to keep them out of the tree to no avail. Boo…..
