Pareidolia : the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern.
All day long I see things that other people don’t see in simple, ordinary objects. I don’t know when it started or why I’m like this but every once in a while I have to stop and take a picture. Just to show someone.
Looking left to right – I see the nose, mouth and eye of a giant dinosaur in the rock. Do you see it too?
I can’t decide if this is a fat bunny or a Scotty dog.
But I do know that seeing a snowman’s face in a fried potato, means we’re going to have a lot of snow this winter. Which is fine by me. I love snow.
But seriously, the giant dinosaur head, you see it, right?

I absolutely see it, too! There’s a spot at Two Lights State Park where I see a crocodile in the rocks. The chip you have also looks like an Ewok to me, if it were on all fours.

Yes, yes and yes. Fellow pareidolic here-raising my hand. My sweet daddy was the same way. I was so glad when, years back, you found the term. I enjoyed sharing that with him 🙂 as we continued to see things in the oddest places.

I, too, have pareidolia. I just never knew that it was a “thing”. It is something that amuses me and sometimes astounds others. They don’t have the vision. I don’t have to try, I just see things. You are indeed gifted, too. I see the monster, the scotty, and the snowman as well.

Yep, I see it! There is a book out there called Play with your Food. It shows you how to purposefully make faces with foods. Take what’s there and improve on it. Just fun for folks like me, who see faces in a lot of common objects!

Looking at the rock right to left, I see a lizard type looking head with an eye, nose, and mouth with a tongue hanging out of the side.
The second one looks like a bear, kind of like a cartoon bear!
Potato does look like a snowman face to me! And like someone else commented, from a different angle, a puffer fisher all blown up

I saw the Dino head right away before I read the comment. I saw the Scotty dog too, but that fried potato……… I didn’t see a snowman at all. What I saw was a little yellow baby chick. So you no what that means? A winter with no snow! That’s okay by me!!

I suffer from the same. Although, I love seeing things in other objects, clouds, food, anything, rocks, you could keep going. Goes back to dissecting those clouds.

The boulder: look right to left, see the tongue hanging out of the open mouthed Chinese dragon! The cereal, I see a pig. The potato I see a blowfish not the snowman.

The boulder looks like a tortoise to me but I could get on board with dinosaur, the cereal, definitely a scottie dog – a fat one!, and I see a fetus in the potato. I didn’t know that this was a unique thing, I thought everyone sees things like this!

Mavis, I’m just wondering …. Did you change your rooster head to a lightning strike like a Gatorade or something cause several of mine are like that now and I don’t know if it’s my phone or if you changed it? Not that it matters, I guess but I still get your blog, but I thought I’d ask!
