The Kiln Guy and I have been in production mode for the past few weeks. Me making ornaments and painting buoys and him soldering his glass stars together.
We’re doing a craft fair together this weekend and I hope we can finish in time.
I still have about 75 ornaments to fire in the kiln, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but the kiln is super small so it takes a couple of firings.
It’s funny what crafts stay with us over the years. I’ve been creating ornaments in one form or another since my early 20’s. And here I am, still going at it.
Same with rug hooking, canning and gardening. I guess we never really stop doing the things we love.
Maybe next year I’ll try something new, maybe I won’t.
I wish I could throw pots, then I could make mugs like my friend Sue.
You can never have enough buoys, right? 😉
I think The Kiln Guy is up to 60 glass stars. Most of them are five pointed stars, but he’s made a few eight pointed stars, and some tree toppers as well.
I hope he sells out. He’s put so much work into his stars.
The HH has also been working on a little holiday project of his own for this weekend. He put his foot down this year… Says we have the perfect window for his holiday surprise.
I’m sure everyone in town will be thrilled. 😉
I’ve been trying to ignore it. If you’ve been reading the blog for a while now you probably know what it is.
Oh well, I can’t worry about that… I still have a few more buoys to paint. Fingers crossed we can all get our projects done in time.
I hope you have a great day!

Or follow the movie line and have “a little accident” with the lamp as it crashes to the floor into a million pieces. It was just an accident.
Adeline says
Oh God, your town is not ready for The Lamp©…
Melissa says
What kiln do you use? Do you need a special electrical outlet for it?
Mavis Butterfield says
It’s a little skutt kiln. It just plugs in to the wall. Tiny but that’s all I need.
Mrs. C. says
I, for one, as a long time fan of the movie, would proudly host that-which-shall-not-be-named in my living room. A crate of corn for your anniversary? Almost sawing off his leg while you were on vacation one time? Ah, Mavis, you are living the life!
Kath says
I have a feeling the leg lamp is making a holiday comeback…LOL.
JP says
Is he building one? OMG, will he do a tutorial?! Please oh please 😛
