When we walked the beach three days ago it was covered in a carpet of green sea moss. Yesterday though, it was totally covered in giant ribbons of kelp.
I love walking the beach after a storm. You just never know what’s going to wash up.
I’m always hoping for lobster rope or a buoy to land on shore, and sometimes I get lucky. Not this time though.
But I did find Audrey II poking out of the bed of kelp. And of course he said FEED ME SEYMOUR.
There were also a bunch of clams everywhere so I set up a buffet along the sand for Gary and Sally. {All seagulls are named Gary and Sally in my book. Always have been. Always will be.}
I think I’ll stop by the beach tomorrow and see if the picnic is over.
Partly because that’s what a person who’s trying to avoid painting their fence would do and also, well, I could use a few more clamshells for my driveway.
Living in along the coast of Maine. There’s never a dull moment. That’s for sure.

I make seaweed fertilizer. Just dump it unrinsed into Home Depot buckets for 4-6 months. Dilute the resulting liquid with 4 parts water to 1 part seaweed liquid. Here in SoCal we can collect up to 10 lbs a day so check what your locale allows. I try to have 3-4 buckets at a time. The best fertilizer!!

No, not Gary and Sally, gulls are named Gertrude and Heathcliff (the names are from the Red Skelton show, classic bit).
