We LOVE the village of Tetbury with all its flowers, shops and old buildings and it’s been such a treat to finally get a chance to walk around and see all there is to see in the downtown area.
It’s no secret that I enjoy traveling, and given the chance I think I’d probably sell everything and live out of a suitcase for the rest of my life.
There are so many wonderful places to see in this world and I know I’ve only made a scratch. But the Cotswolds, and Tetbury especially, if you ever get the chance to visit… Do it!
We are making our way back home now and there are so many more things to share with you and one of them is The Close Hotel in Tetbury where we stayed.
The property is smack in the middle of the village and the building, as well as the grounds, the staff and everything in between has been one of my favorite hotel stays of all time.
The view from our room was one of my favorite things!!!
The view was of the back lawn/patio/garden area and it was nice to be able to look out and see people enjoying themselves at different times throughout the day.
We were on the top floor so there was hardly any noise, more like background music.
And strangely enough, there are no screens on the windows here… or anywhere for that matter. In fact we didn’t see a screen on a single window during our entire stay in the Cotswolds. How wild is that?
Also, every place we stayed used Nespresso type pods.
The first night we arrived we still had fruit and cheese from our last stop so I went downstairs and asked for a plate so we could enjoy it in our room.
The staff member gave me a plate, a fork, a knife, a napkin and a pat of butter. I don’t know why but I thought it was both sweet and funny.
Breakfast every morning was in the dining room.
There was a small breakfast bar to get you started and you could order from the menu as well {all included with our stay}
I kept up with my yogurt regimen.
The HH tried the English breakfast once.
And I had ordered the dippy soldiers!!! Which were wonderful.
I even had afternoon tea at the hotel once {27 pounds} and for the price point it was really, really nice.
My favorite part though… was ordering a cup of tea. They did it right here at The Close Hotel and it made me smile every time
Tea and scones and a lovely room to stay in… What more could I ask for?
I’m going to miss the Cotswolds. And I’m going to miss The Close Hotel too. We’re both already looking forward to coming back again someday.

Did you rent your car at the airport? I seem to recall last time you went to England you took a train to a nearby town and then rented the car. How did you find the road driving to the Cotswold? Are they super skinny and nerve-wracking for two-way traffic? That was my experience in Ireland so now I ask about everywhere in the UK!
That looks like an absolutely beautiful hotel, more like Downton Abbey! What a great trip for you and your husband!

How was the black pudding? It sounds awful to my West Coast palate. I don’t think I’d even have the nerve to try it.
Love the linen dress! I’ll have to put that town and hotel on my bucket list. Lovely all around!
