Hey! The HH fixed the oven!
And guess what we ate pretty much all of last week anyway? 🙂 Salads. Lots and lots of salads. And there were several homemade cookies too.
Because seriously, what more do you need than salad and cookies when you reach a certain age in life? I have been craving some of Mel’s drunken beans though, so I might have to make a batch of those soon.
Costco Shopping Trip $55.42
Kraft singles were on sale at Costco {$4 off!} so I grabbed some of those. Also broccoli sounded like a good idea so we grabbed a bag of that too. I wonder I we have any cashews left? I make a really good broccoli cashew salad, maybe it’s time to make it again.
You know, to change things up a bit. Also, it involves bacon, and bacon is always a good idea.
Big salad with rotisserie chicken.
Big salad with bacon.
Big salad with bacon and avocado {even better!}.
The last of the Costco cauliflower pizza. I’d totally get it again.
Market Basket Shopping Trip $15.52
I thought I was saving some serious money when I bought the marked down package of the Market Basket brand of cinnamon raisin English muffins … Boy was I wrong!
The English muffins were total duds!
Maybe there were 4 raisins per muffin half? They tasted like cardboard and made me wish we had a little piggy so I could toss them out back.
I think I’ll stick to oatmeal for breakfast. You can never go wrong with oatmeal.
Or a fundraiser breakfast of pancakes and sausage. 😉 You just never know who you’re going to meet at one of those. We sat next to a nice lady from Portland, Oregon of all places.
Hey! Maybe this week I’ll cook. Or maybe I won’t.
Is this what happens when you get older? Do you just start eating the same thing over and over again because you’d rather spend your time doing other things?
I wonder how much time I would save if I just stuck to a diet of oatmeal, salad and cookies. Oh wait. I think I’m already doing that. HA HA HA!
Have a great Tuesday everyone!
Stay awesome,
~ Mavis

honestly, i gave up cooking about a year ago, maybe more. there are so many other things i would rather do with my time. i do enjoy making soups and breads though, but we are out of that season now. it is just so much easier to pick up pre-cooked meals. just about all the grocery stores around here have hot buffets, with really good food, like gourmet, so we can’t go wrong. i would rather spend my time hooking and reading and at this time of my life thats what i try to do and not feel guilty about it. beautiful day.

That is my cooking strategy these days! I do as little as possible because I’m sick of it. And yes, your broccoli cashew salad is excellent! I also need to make it.

You eat really well. A proper amount of protein and loads of veg. I’m at the stage where I absolutly hate thinking about what I need to buy and make for dinner. I’m going on the Mavis diet for the rest of summer. I’ll probably lose my muffin top and my HH can get his burger/fry fix when we eat out.

Have you looked at the ingredients in that “cheese”? Blech. Otherwise, you’re doing great Mavis and HH. 🙂

You still need to try Bays English muffins in the refrigerated section!
