Well, school starts next week in our neck of the woods so I thought it was time to take down the red, white and blue buoys and put up the back to school display here at The Lobster House.
Last year we did pencil buoys and a few books and it was such a big hit. Definitely a conversation starter, that’s for sure.
The parents and kids loved it so much that we decided to do it again but this time around we added to the display a bit.
We added four new books:
- Black Beauty
- Blueberries For Sal
- Peter Rabbit
- Little House on The Prairie
And we made apple buoys too!
Plus a few extra for the buoy cart. How stinkin’ fun is that?
This house. It’s so crazy. It’s like one massive rotating art installation. It kind of makes you wonder… What’s next?

Oh how beautiful it all is! So much fun for sure. I swear it makes my heart hurt just looking at it. My mother in law when she sold her big house in NY she moved to Blue Hill Maine to retire (she was an artist) and lived in a condo for 55 and over. One person who lived there was the man who wrote Blueberries for Sal and I swear I secretly stalked that man I loved that book oh so much as a child. Brightened up my morning for sure.

I am in love with this display. My favorite is Little House. I still read the entire Little House series, starting every October. You have done a great job on the entire display.
