It’s time to head back to school here in Maine and I couldn’t think of a more appropriate way to decorate The Lobster House than with a bunch of pencils and books.
Well, pencil buoys. 😉 Seriously, how cute are these!? I LOVE the way they turned out!!!
And the books too.
It was hard to pick just six!! Painting them was a bit tricky, but it’s been SO MUCH fun to watch the people walk by and stop and look at each one.
I knew when we bought this house I wanted to do something fun with it. I just didn’t know we’d be turning our barn into a little buoy making factory.
The HH, he’s a pro at making wooden buoys now, that’s for sure.
And I can’t walk the beach without scanning for clam shells.
It was hard to find the larger ones this time around {all the tourists scooped them up} but I did find enough to spell out “back 2 school” for the Lobster House back to school buoy display.
Fall, it’s definitely in the air. The mornings are just a wee bit chillier and pretty soon the leaves will begin to fall and it will be time to swap out the buoys again.
I LOVE this time of year!! And I love how our quirky little back to school display turned out.
Have a great weekend everyone,
~Mavis

Wowza!! This deserves a BH&G home of the year award. This was so clever Msvis and HH
The book thing is especially creative. I would have merely glued used book covers to the block but this takes the cake. And the clam shells….we we’d expect nothing less. I’m a retired teacher too and many teachers outdo each other with bulletin board displays but yours is so much cleverer. Thanks Mavis for this and for taking us on virtual tours this year.
