Yesterday the weather was perfect. It started out a little nippy, then warmed up and there was a nice breeze. To top it off, I didn’t get bit by a mosquito once.
Maybe mosquito season is finally over? I think it might be.
My big fall project is to get the rest of the fence panels stained before the weather turns. I probably have about a month {maybe less?} of decent weather to get the job done.
Yesterday I managed to get three panels {front and back} stained. I don’t know about you, but I adore white picket fences.
Yes, they can be a pain to maintain, but they look so sweet and crisp and homey to me. Plus they make the green grass pop and make a garden look so much nicer in my opinion.
The raised garden beds are looking pretty tidy these days. Just carrots, leeks and a few peppers left to harvest.
I checked on the lima beans last night. The temps are supposed to dip down to the lower 60’s/upper 50’s here in a few days. So who knows if they’ll get any bigger. If not, I guess we’ll just have to have baby lima beans.
We have six sugar pie pumpkins growing on the fence.
Four Jack Be Little Pumpkins that I could see.
And a couple dozen little spinner gourds. I plan on hanging some of the spinner gourds in the twig swag above that hangs above the doorway.
Only a week to go until the first week of fall. It’s hard to believe, isn’t it? I think I’m finally ready though. Are you?

Oh Mavis one of absolutes is a home must have a white picket fence, a great roof line or different roof, shutters and window boxes and then I am a happy camper. End of story. You are so lucky with the leeks nothing like them and the limas? I would love a big bowl of lima bean chowder (with leeks in it) and dumplings. You have it all……

Love it all! Been wondering if you compost and where is it? Maybe a future post?

You better watch out for chipmunks and squirrels. Today a squirrel got the only pumpkin I had growing on the vine. This was also the first pumpkin I had ever grown. I was really looking forward to it getting ripe because most things didn’t grow that well this year.
