Yesterday I got up early and hopped on the tube to check out the student vegetable plots at Kew Gardens.
The student plots have always been my favorite “garden” to visit when I’m in London and I just couldn’t resist another peek.
It’s no big secret around here that I LOVE to grow vegetables. And I especially love seeing all the different hand made trellises the students come up with in which to grow them on.
Tomatoes, basil and marigolds. A winning combination for sure.
I’m already hatching plans to expand our growing space for next year and when I get home I may have to find some vines so I can whip up a cucumber trellis like this one.
Is it just me, or do those little pots remind you of Beatrix Potter?
I just love the simplicity of the vegetable plots at the Kew. Some people need to sit in the sun on a sandy beach to refuel. I need to stroll through vegetable gardens. 🙂
Another little spot I always like to check out while I’m at The Kew is the little Victorian greenhouse that’s situated in the main vegetable garden.
One of these days I am going to have a real glass greenhouse with cold frames and a little patio out front with pots.
And a few cold frames too.
Note to self: Look up Alitex Glasshouse Company.
I loved that the inside of the greenhouse didn’t have pavers. They just planted the vegetables directly in the soil.
After a look around the student gardens, the main vegetable gardens and the little greenhouse I popped by the The Botanical Brasserie for a cream tea.
The Botanical Brasserie is directly across from the Palm House {another one of my favorite places to visit} and this was my first visit to the brasserie.
The view from where I was seated inside. Does it get any better than that!?
I LOVE the fact that when you sit down for tea in the UK that you are served a POT of tea. And there’s almost always white and brown sugar cubes on the table as well.
It’s the little things that make eating out special here. Tea and scones and an amazing view. Seriously, does it get any better than this?
And last but not least, I had to show you a picture of the loo at The Botanical Brasserie. I don’t know why, but I am fascinated with the loos in the UK. So many of them are done up so nicely, it would be a shame not to share.
Every time I go into one with a little flair, I suddenly want to order a few rolls of peel and stick wallpaper and glam up my bathroom walls like I did our bedroom.
Okay, that’s all I’ve got for today.
I hope you have a wonderful Sunday!!

Thanks for taking us along. Love the botanical gardens! And just told my husband that the wallpaper in the loo there would look wonderful in our bathroom. He cringed, but I’m really thinking about it!
