I came up with 12 goals I’d like to accomplish next year with the hopes of being able to cross one off my list per month to make them more manageable. I thought a great way to hold myself accountable to the things I want to accomplish this year would be to do a weekly update.
After all, we all need a little help staying motivated sometimes. Here’s how I am doing so far:
1. Clean, de-clutter and organize my entire home in 30 days or less. – Isn’t it amazing all the cool stuff you find when you go through and clean your entire house? I purchased this Keep Calm and Carry on bag last year at Heathrow airport and had totally forgotten about it until I was cleaning out the bedroom the yesterday.
It’s made of burlap and would be the perfect sort of bag to bring to the beach. If I was a beach person that is. I’m not sure what I’m going to use it for yet but I’m sure glad I found it.
3. Travel. Tickets have been purchased!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 I’m keeping the plans a secret for now though until we get all the details worked out. Stay tuned!
4. Send my daughter to college without having a nervous breakdown thus spending a week in bed sobbing.
5. Get 3 new teeth. 😉
6. Pay off my car. Here’s a video of us when we bought it last summer.
8. Family Day. Do one thing together as a family every Sunday. – This past Sunday we went to the LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma, Washington. We took a bunch of pictures so be on the lookout for those tomorrow. If you are a local, it’s worth the addmission price that’s for sure.

Mavis: It’s a sign. See, we are suppose to move there.
HH: Seriously? The Colonial Williamsburg Society wants a donation. Look, it’s bulk mail. It is not a sign.
Mavis: Thanks Debbie Downer.
So there you have it, an update on my 12 goals for the new year.
How about YOU? How are your 2014 goals coming along?
~Mavis
P.S. YES, I know I wrote down 13 goals. I’m fairly certain I won’t be able to attain one of them {gee, I wonder which one?}. But I wanted to add it in there anyway because I believe in miracles.

I too have the goal of not having a nervous breakdown when my daughter leaves for college. I don’t see it happening though since I already hyperventilate when I think about graduation day!

🙂 Hang in there Kari. We can do it.

Financial health, or at least getting out of the ICU!!! I finally wrote down all of our expenses today, and it will be a very tight first six months of the year, and I will have to keep on target and strict with our family spending/groceries, but then I can see some breathing room and the opportunity to save which is a huge thing for me!! I will need to keep an eye on your money saving posts more than ever now, but at the end of the year, breathing easier should be nice!

Ok switch out son for daughter and add me to the list. Kari, Mavis we can do this!

Bittersweet doesn’t even begin to describe it. 🙁
