Being back in Southern Maine has been great. There’s so much to see and do and we’ve really enjoyed catching up with old friends. Another thing we’ve been doing this past month or so has been going out to eat. Way more than we’re used to, I might add. 😉
Recently our old neighbors invited us to try a place called 50 Local. While they had dined at 50 Local many times before, this was our first time there. And boy it didn’t disappoint!
We had a great time, and I wanted to share some photos of the delicious meal we shared in case a trip to Southern Maine is in your future.
Seafood is a big deal here in Maine, with lobster and oysters being high on most seafood lovers’ must try list. Fun fact: 95% of Maine’s oysters come from the Damariscotta River {in Mid Coast Maine}.
I didn’t try an oyster, but I did have the crispy farm salad with poached egg, caesar salad and shaved pecorino. It was fabulous. If you are a fan of Scotch eggs, the breaded egg was like that, only a softer version.
The HH tried their skillet garlic bread. We all sampled a bite and it too was a winner.
In fact, everything that came to our table was top notch. Including this marinated vegetable hummus. Isn’t it beautiful? I want to try and recreate this once we get settled.
The spinach bucatini with marinated shrimp, garlic, shallots and white wine got raved reviews.
As did the fish and chips the HH had.
The steak with roasted vegetables that I had was another 10/10. If you’re looking for a really nice spot to gather with friends or for a special date night in Kennebunk, Maine… 50 Local is the spot. We all enjoyed our food and the atmosphere was pretty spectacular as well.
A girl could get used to this!! 😉
