The wind blew so much yesterday, it’s hard to tell how much snow we got exactly. In some places there was only an inch, and others it was knee deep.
All I know is that other than popping outside to snap a few pictures, I hunkered down inside all day keeping busy drawing out patterns, starting seeds and enjoying an early dinner of baked brie and crackers with the HH.
It was wonderful.
Some of our days are super busy, and others, well, other days are the stuff of dreams. Pajamas, cheese, indoor gardening and Bambi stopping by for a snack with his friends.
Life in Maine. It’s pretty awesome. đ

Sounds like a glorious day! I so admire how you cherish each day as it comes, busy or not, challenging or relaxing. You truly know how to live!

We should all try to live by this example

Have you had good luck starting lavender from seed? I have heard it can be difficult
Mavis Butterfield says
Yes! I have grown it the last few years with great success. I have found it to be pretty easy to grow. The trick is to plant the seeds and then let them hang out in your fridge until the seedlings pop through the soil which can take anywhere from 30-60 days. This year I planted an entire flat {72} so we’ll see how many I end up with. https://www.onehundreddollarsamonth.com/how-to-grow-lavender-start-to-finish/

We have another snowstorm coming through the Midwest tomorrow, with 45 mph wind gusts. Maybe it’ll blow its way to your neck of the woods. đ Overnight windchill of -25 or so this weekend — darn, thought we were skipping a polar vortex this winter since we didn’t get one in January. đ

Hi Robin, we are in N. Illinois and have the same forecast, stay safe and warm.

Hi, Nancy! Nice to meet you. đ

Yes, something about a snowy day makes being indoors extra cozy. I’ve lived in southern New England for 20 years now and there are times when the bare trees and gray skies can be a bit gloomy. I much, much prefer to have snow on the ground–it definitely makes everything look quite lovely! Enjoy your lovely view of winter!

Your snow day sounds perfect! You remind me of a modern version of Tasha Tudor. You wear what you like. You embrace each day-whatever it holds. You keep busy and are creative. You have a beloved pet. You are an old-soul. You are a Jill-of-all trades. (Blog, garden, recipes, kiln, rug hooking, adventures, remodels, just to make a few!) You âtake joyâ, in each day, to quote Tasha Tudor.
Thank you for showing us all how to enjoy life! Youâre an inspiration and we love you!

Yes, Rebecca Anne!
She is a modern day Tasha Tudor! Gardening, painting, needlework. I wish I could have a cup of tea with her.
Sorry, Mavis that weâre talking about you! âşď¸

So why does your HH bother snow blowing if you donât need to get out into it?
Kathy says
What seeds are you starting now?
Mavis Butterfield says
Lavender, petunia, purple coneflower, onions and rosemary.

While I am glad that you enjoy the snowy weather and all that it entails…I could not be any happier living here in GA where snow is a rarity and gone really quickly. I don’t enjoy the cold weather. Summer is my season.
We spent six years in Germany. That was enough snow and freezing for me…forever!!
