Costco Shopping Trip $63.48
Well, it appears we are back on the salad train. 😉 And that’s a good thing if you ask me.
For the first time in a long time the Mediterranean Crunch salads that we like so much looked great so we grabbed a few while we were at Costco a few days ago. Also, for the first time in many, many months, the blueberries actually tasted like blueberries! It was a great shopping trip.
My neighbor told me Kerry Gold butter is on sale through May 3rd so we’ll have to grab a few boxes the next time we’re there. Which will probably be soon seeing how this is plant buying season and all. 😉
Market Basket Shopping Trip $62.64
Market Basket had steak tips on sale for $9.99 a pound {I think they’re $12.99 a pound now at Costco} so the HH picked up just enough for 3 meals.
That’s the one thing about buying meat at Costco that stinks. If you’re just cooking for two, who the heck wants to spend $50-60 on a package of meat in one go? Not us.
Fact: Market Basket has the best rotisserie chickens. Another Fact: We’ve had tremendous luck with avocados so far this year.
Meals We’ve Been Eating Lately…
Big beautiful salads.
And tuna salads too.
Steak tips, mashed potatoes and leftover salad.
Lucy loves mashed potatoes. So we always let her pre-rinse the pot. 🙂
The HH’s chicken soup. He makes the BEST soups!!
Pickety bits. Does it get any healthier than that?
Dinner out with friends: Grilled Caesar salad.
And short ribs with deep friend cauliflower ball and broccoli rabe.
More salad. This time with bacon. I’m not sure which I like more on a salad… Bacon or roasted chicken. How about you?
Sometimes all you want is a slice of peanut butter banana toast for dinner.
Best breakfast ever! Overcooked lentils, fried egg, avocados and tomatoes.
And last but not least, bacon, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and avocados. 🙂
The eating has been good around here lately! Let’s hope the salad trend continues. It really is my favorite thing to eat.
Hey! It’s the weekend already, can you believe it? I hope you have a good one. We’ll be working in the yard. How about YOU? And cool plans? Anyone going clubbing?

I buy the big packs of meat at Costco for the 2 of us when they are on sale. I split it up when we get home – some gets frozen and some of it gets canned. I love grabbing a jar of meat off the shelf to add to a veggie dish – the meat is already cooked and it just needs to heat up a little. Comes in handy when I haven’t defrosted anything for dinner . . .

Your meals look fantastic. How I wish my HH would eat/share an avocado. Our local Fred Meyer sells 2lb rotisserie’s for 11.99. They’re not as tasty as Costco so I pass on those. I absolutely buy fresh meat from Fred’s when on sale and stock up enough for a few meals as well. Husband is happy buying everything from Costco but we have a small freezer now with the giant ice maker. I wish they had options to reverse the proportions of freezer and fridge section. I also like to make a Winco run every few months to stock up on the condiments and other weird stuff that seems overpriced at Freds.

We buy the big packs of meat at Costco and Sam’s Club, and break it down into smaller packs then vac-seal most of it. I plan on canning some meat this summer-having some ready to use makes sense.

I’m interested to see that mostly yours and our foods (UK) are about the same price, we couldn’t get a rotisserie chicken for that price though, your milk is cheaper than ours too! Your meals look good to me. I buy meat as we go as we don’t really eat much red meat any more. I think me and my DH eat too much still even though we probably eat half of what we were eating 10 years ago! It’s helped the food budget hugely but our waistlines are still a little on the large side. I think two meals a day would be enough for me but not so much the DH!

I went clubbing at Costco recently. It was a little pricey but not too crowded.

Hi Mavis,
We live in the South Okanagan, British Columbia. Sadly our bbq deli chickens are 12$ and our Crunch salads are 7$ each. We also now only eat two meals a day as we’ve gotten older. We are so thankful that we can afford to buy what we want. I don’t know how families afford the prices now. We do buy large amounts of protein when on sale and freeze portions. I’d like to start pressure canning some when I’m able. Just an FYI, my hubby wants to make some pasta sauce soon. Johnsonville Mild Italian was 8.49$. For five sausages! He bought them though.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Funny, you mentioned the kerrygold, because I bought four packages last week on sale. Are you sure they didn’t mean that the sale ends on May 3rd? In New York It was $11.99 for 1.5 lb package

Ooops! Misread your post. Please ignore my correction. I should never do that anyway

Lucy!!! <3 Your salads always look so delish! We get a 1/4 cow every year for the 2 of us – we eat a lot of beef. Also got 1/2 hog this past year from the same farmer we get the beef from, so it's nice only having to buy chicken at the stores. I make homemade "doggie stew" for our two furmonsters, so a lot of our hamburger goes into that.
