Normally I’m not a big breakfast person. Tea and oatmeal or tea and a slice of toast is all I need. But with all the FRUIT in the house lately, I feel I have to add it to something just for variety sake.
I mean, you can only eat so many peaches over the sink, handfuls of blueberries or bananas in the car on the way to the Doctor’s office, right?
Market Basket bran flakes with fruit are my new favorite thing. I think it’s the maltiness of the cereal that I like.
Is maltiness even a word?
I gave up on raisin bran because there are just too many raisins in the box. It makes me crazy. I don’t know how big those “two scoops of raisins in every box” are but there is just too many raisins!
You know what else is a really good cereal? Kashi organic cinnamon harvest cereal. Plus there always seems to be a $1.00 off peelie on the box.
Ahhh peelie coupons. Remember those? I get so excited when I see them on a product I actually want to buy.
And the HH’s scrambled eggs. Every time I pull out the eggs for breakfast, HH offers to make them.
Which we all know is code for “I make them better than you but I don’t want to say that out loud because you are an amazing wife and I don’t want to hurt your feelings”.
Yep. That’s what it means alright.
Eggs, weenies, pineapple and some fresh chives from the garden. And all I had to do was sit done at the table. That’s my kind of breakfast! 🙂
Fruit and bran flakes.
That’s the food kick I’m on these days. Isn’t it weird how we’ll eat something for weeks, months, years even and then move on to the next thing?
How about you? Have you been eating anything interesting?

Well now each and every picture sure had me wanting what was in the picture. Looks like breakfast lunch or dinner to me. You are so lucky my husband although a very good man has no idea even where the water comes from in the kitchen. You go girl.

My current hyper-fixation meal/snack is Good brand low fat cottage cheese and pitted cherries that sit overnight so the juice flavors the cottage cheese a bit.
It is so good!
This time of year that is my breakfast, I have watermelon and peaches with my lunch, and more watermelon or cherries with dinner. Its the most wonderful time of the year.

You hit the nail on the head with Raisin Bran; I love the bran flakes but there’s entirely too many raisins! I like Heritage Flakes and Maple Pecan granola from Trader Joe’s, or steel-cut oats (made ahead and frozen in portions) with berries.

That looks so good. I actually love Raisin Bran, but I know it has quite a bit of sugar in it. I don’t buy it for home, but it is my treat when we stay at a hotel that serves breakfast. They usually have it in their little cereal dispensers.
I’m like you, I eat the same thing for a very long time, then move on to a new mainstay. During tax season, I lived on homemade bran muffins and hard-boiled eggs, things I could eat in the car on my way to work. My current go-to is fresh raspberries from the garden with yogurt and homemade granola, with a side of scrambled eggs. I don’t need much variety. Why mess with a good thing?!?!

Have you thought about canning some of the fruit? Ball has a recipe for Mixed Fruits and I have a friend that absolutely loves it. (it is in the latest Ball Blue Book – 38th Edition on page 25) I have canned oranges, apples and grapefruit (but not in the same jar – each in its own jar). I have also frozen fruit to use later in smoothies.

Good morning!
The fresh fruit y’all are eating looks very good. I don’t usually eat anything early. When school is in session, ( i drive a school bus), i usually drink a nutition shake and take vitamins, then between 10:30 and lunch i eat something. Summertime is a little different. This morning I ate oatmeal with cherry infused craisins, apples, and pecans. It was so good…. You’re HH is a blessing.

My HH also makes better eggs than I do! I embrace it and tell him how delicious they are! He makes the rest of the breakfast while he’s in the kitchen. Sometimes, Life is Good!

It’s strawberry picking season here in MN and I’ve been gobbling them up every time I pass the fridge. I’m making a strawberry dessert to bring to a gathering this weekend too. But your peaches are making me want those now, too!

Mine makes the eggs also cheese sammies. That’s it for food and he does do it better than I do. Since he retired he’s transferring and folding the laundry, vacuum’s on occasion and helps with the dishes on top of his normal car and lawn chores. All without me asking. He’s finally stopped announcing it when I started thanking him whilst mid fold. I like to make sure he knows how much I appreciate him. It makes up for all the side eye I give him.

I’m with you on Raisin Brand. To many raisins and too much sugar. The raisins sweeten it up all by themselves. I eat Wheaties with raisins when I eat cereal. Did that for years and now I don’t. Hmmm. Now I’m on a scrambled eggs and sourdough toast with either blueberries or strawberries for breakfast regimen. You’re a lucky woman in my book that your husband cooks. Mine can’t boil water. Lucky for me he’s really good at a whole lot of things I’m not.

my husband and i are on a yogurt parfait kick. yesterday for dinner we had frozen fruit on the bottom (blackberries, rasberries, strawberries, blueberries and bananna). with a real thick layer of chobani vanilla yogurt on top of that and another layer of bob’s red mill granola on top of that. didn’t feel like cooking and that was good enough.

I’m the breakfast maker in our household, so kudos to HH! My breakfast varies with the seasons: something warm during cold weather (oatmeal, eggs) and something cold during hot weather (yogurt with granola + fruit). I’m currently happily stuck on avocado toast with balsamic drizzle + a fried jammy egg on top!

Right now I’m on a kick of Jimmy Dean sausage and maple pancake sandwiches. The sweet of the pancakes offset the spice of the sausage just perfectly. 90 second in the microwave then wait for it to cool down enough to eat. So simple yet so tasty. Maybe if either of us liked cooking we’d do better? We have a friend who bought a griddle with depressions just the right size for cooking eggs to put on English muffins. I bet you could make pancakes in that pan, too, if you wanted to make your own pancake, egg, cheese, and sausage patty sandwiches.

I love raisin bran with the two scoops! Just goes to show that everyone is different!
