Costco had some great deals this week. 60 granola bars for $6.99, 8 boxes of black bean soup for $6.97 and those delicious butter croissants for $4.99. Monkey Boy was out of his Cups of Noodles so I picked up a case of those for him. He likes to pack them in his work lunches when there aren’t any leftovers to bring.Â
I made a few tuna sandwiches as well as breakfast sandwiches with the croissants.
The HH stayed home for 5 days with awful flu like symptoms so most of our meals for the first few days last week were pretty boring and bland.
I think he ate a bowl of chicken and rice soup for lunch every single day. 😉
Zaycon chicken and broccolette as a side dish.
Waffles with blueberries {I froze a ton of them last summer.}
Protein bowls.
Chocolate chip banana muffins. {I’ll post the recipe later this week}
And last but not least, chicken stir fry.
We didn’t really eat anything too exciting last week, but we are right on track for this time of year. I am looking forward to getting our garden installed in a few weeks so we can grow some fresh fruits and veggies and reduce our grocery bill over the summer and fall months.
Life is good!
How much did YOU spend at the grocery store this past week? Did you find anything super awesome?

Great job! I wish I could plan out my meals so well. And that whatever I made was eaten.

Gosh, I am so impressed with your recipes and meal plans and shopping trips. I like to consider myself pretty good at this stuff, but I’m not worthy! I think some of it is the full time job, and the age of my kids.
I shop at Costco though, so I am finding your trips incredibly useful. Like those croissants. I should buy those for sandwiches. That would be delicious. Ever since I saw that last picture you posted of an egg sammie, I have been dreaming about an egg, cheese, and ham sammie. That broccolette looks great too. My list for this week is bread, peanut butter, and raisin bran.
Still, only $500 for the year? I am at $1300, and it’s been a challenge for me, super duper challenge. I figure my two small boys probably eat the same amount as your big boy. Hm. For example, I made some things this week – lemon muffins and bread. That’s a great way to save money, but only if you eat it instead of something else. Like muffins for breakfast and bread with soup for dinner. But it seems like the boys (including the husband) like eating the muffins for snacks, in addition to the other food. Not sure it’s saving me money.
Do you use frozen veg for your stir fry? It looks very good. I’ve used the Costco frozen stir fry veg before. Should try that again.

what do you do if you need, say a bottle of ketchup, but don’t want to buy 3 at Costco? (I think you mentioned thus scenario in a previous post)
