Well it’s back home for me today. Back to the land of lobsters and summer crowds and my garden and of course The HH and Lucy.
The good news is the tile installers have packed up and gone home and there will be a working shower and sink waiting for me!!
The new washer and dryer is set to arrive {and be installed} today so all that will be left to do in that space is for the HH to finish the trim and install the hardware and mirror.
I don’t think I could ask for a better welcome home!!
I can’t remember if I told you or not about the enormous suitcase I bought before I left for my trip to London. It was at our local church thrift store and $10 and my favorite {AGA} blue color and so I snatched it up.
And I’m SO GLAD I DID!!! Because of that suitcase I’m able to bring back a winter’s worth of treats. Yee-Haw! It’s like it was meant to be.
I loaded up on all my favorite teas and marmalades at Fortnum and Mason. {and picked up some much requested honey for Kiln Guy and The Chef.
I also stocked up on a bunch of my favorite cookies, candies, sugar cubes and condiments too. And of course some funky flavored “crisps” for the HH.
Also, a tube of Marvis sweet and sour rhubarb toothpaste! How could I resist that?
I also discovered a new clothing store while I was here called Brandy Mellville. They had tons of the plain clothing that I like so I loaded up.
Solid colors, stripes and cotton. What more does a girl need? I even bought a pair of sweatpants. What was I thinking? 😉
The one thing I really wanted to bring back that I couldn’t though, was all the glorious salads {and cherry pie!} from Harrod’s.
Their cherry pie is the BEST pie I have ever had in my entire life. And I’ve had a lot of pie. The thick crust was OUTSTANDING and recreating that is going on my winter project list, that’s for sure.
Their prosciutto, cantaloupe, pesto and burrata cheese salad though I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to recreate pretty quick. {I think I’ll skip the gold leaf}. 😉
I LOVE going on vacation! But I sure do love going home. I’ve had a great time here in London and I can’t wait to come back again.
Fingers crossed the garden is still alive.
Have a great day everyone,
~Mavis

Looks like you’re bringing home some great stuff. Love the colors of the clothes you picked. How much does it cost to check a giant suitcase?
Mavis Butterfield says
Zero dollars for me. 🙂 I could have checked 3 bags for free. I’ll have to remember that for next.
eliz says
Oh wow! Three 50 pound bags? What kind of ticket do you get that with?

There is a Brandy Melville on Newbury St. in Boston.

I WANT THAT SUITCASE. I mean, what’s IN the suitcase. Just don’t open it and ship it to my house, m’kay?

Did you know that World Market carries the digestives, teas, and chocolates from England that you love? If you have one anywhere near you, you could load up on those treats without a trip across the pond.

Thanks once again for taking us along on one of your adventures!

Please keep us updated on how the clothes wear! I have a list of clothing stores that I always stock up from when I’m in the UK. If these hold up I would love to add this to my list if they do. I like classic pieces that will last years and this looks like just the ticket.

Have you heard of the HBO doc on Brandy Melville? One size fits most…You may like Quince. Great company, high quality and good prices. I highly recommend Quince.
Your suitcase was full of the best treasures. Good trip!

There are Brandy Melville stores throughout the US (including Boston) and they have a website where you can order items too! They are good quality.

Ooh, true British Cadbury’s Dairy Milk bars! Yes please. I buy Dairy Milk here in Canada, but the ones from England are somehow even more delicious.
I remember walking through Harrod’s and being shocked silly at some of the prices! But back when we went, we rented a little flat around the corner from Harrid’s and one day we needed some Italian herbs for a spaghetti we were making in the flat. Harrod’s had a little jar for 99p!! Lol
