Well hello Monday!
Last week started off with a date day trip to the Portland Head Light, the LL Bean Home Store and lunch at a restaurant called the Owl and Elm Pub. We saw their ad for a hamburger in Maine Magazine and photo looked so good, we just had to try it. And WHAT A WINNER!!! We were still talking about our meal 3 days later. I’m not sure if that’s a sign that we’re getting old, or that is truly was delicious and we just could stop talking about it. 😉
Pumpkin cheese coffee cake {I’ll share the recipe tomorrow}.
Followed by a delicious creamy potato pancake {?} stuffed omelette and Canadian bacon. There was also a Theo dark mint chocolate bar towards the end of the flight.
That was breakfast.

Peace Out Girl Scouts, I need a nap. I’ll see you back here tomorrow.
Have an awesome Monday everyone.

Okay Mavis, let’s get something straight, that on-flight breakfast with Canadian bacon? That is NOT Canadian bacon, unless of course they sourced it from Canada! lol Canadian bacon is peameal bacon or back bacon (cured pork loin rolled in cornmeal giving it the peameal name). It is much leaner than typical side bacon and gives you much more protein than regular bacon. They each play their own part in a Canadian breakfast, side bacon goes with pancakes, waffles and pretty much anything else you would want to eat ever, the fat content is offset by the sweet maple syrup or fruit syrups! Because Canadian bacon doesn’t have the fat content it is best served with eggs, omelettes, and more savory breakfasts or even on a bun with Octoberfest mustard or even cooked whole as a roast on the bbq! Love your blog and can’t wait to try the pineapple custard! We are doing a picnic shoulder for Christmas this year and I think it would be perfect to go along with it!

Thank you Mavis and Mrs Hillbilly, several years ago you posted about a walk in Gig Harbor and breakfast at the Net Shed. It has become a favorite spot for my HH and I when ever we cross the bridge.
