I love painting walls! I don’t know why, but I do.
The past few days I’ve been working over at the studio painting the walls in what will be my new office space and having so much fun!
It’s a small place and the ceilings are sloped upstairs so I decided to paint the ceiling my favorite Benjamin Moore color {chantilly lace} to {hopefully} make the room seem larger than it is.
Once the ceiling was done it was time to tackle the side walls.
I still can’t believe I stepped out of my comfort zone and painted the walls {Benjamin Moore bird’s egg} blue!!
I painted the storm door on the front of the house this color and LOVED the way it turned out so I decided to see if I’d like it just as much inside. And I do!
The old color on the wall was a drab grey blue color that neither of us liked that much.
I decided that if I was going to have color on the walls, I wanted the color to be bright and happy. Something that would be cheery even during the long winter months.
My soon to be writing nook.
That desk I found at the Re-Store for $20 is going to look great once I get it sanded and re-painted white, don’t you think? The size was spot on!
Call me crazy but I think the American Gothic Paint by number I did last winter would look perfect above the desk. I mean, the whole place doesn’t have to have a seaside vibe to it, right? Maybe I should hang all my paint by numbers in this room?
I don’t know. I’m trying to not get too ahead of myself and just concentrate on one room at a time.
Hopefully by the end of the week I’ll have the window trim painted and then the place will be ready for carpet!
Yee-haw. Progress! It’s a good thing.

Maybe put the desk in front of the window so you can lookout. I like the color you picked. Looks cheery!

Agree

I actually don’t like having my desk at the window… Too distracting. : ) I want to sit down, get my work done as efficiently as possible.
The HH on the other hand….

I love that color and the desk is a perfect fit!

I got lucky on the desk. Excited to see what else I can find there this winter.

I think the picture ties in nicely as the sky in the pic matches the walls.
Mavis Butterfield says
I think the sky helps too.

Did you need to do a primer coat between the old grey-blue and the robin’s egg blue? I ask because our bedroom is a bluish-grey color that I hate and I’m thinking of doing the same!
Mavis Butterfield says
Nope. Just painted right over it. 1 coat!
Trace says
Love the Blue..
Mavis Butterfield says
Thank you! So do I. 🙂

When we visited the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library & Museum in Abilene, KS a few years ago, there was a large room of Paint By Number paintings displayed on every wall. They were very popular in the 50’s and 60’s. The President gave them as gifts or painted them himself. Many of the paintings were given back to him, which are (or were) on display. I am not sure if it an ongoing exhibit, or was there for a short time.
Mavis Butterfield says
Oh wow! That is so cool. Thanks for that little tidbit Judy.
