I thought I’d share a few pictures of the garden today. Even with fall right around the corner there’s no sign of it in the vegetable or flower garden.
It’s hard to believe that even with all the warm weather we’ve been having, everything is still looking great!
Our tower of beans is doing much better than expected. I was telling the HH the other day that I bet we could have had a 10 foot trellis and the beans would still be climbing to the top of it.
We both agree that the French filet beans {a bush variety} are still our favorite. They’re smaller than the pole beans and more tender. If only I had more room I’d plant more of them.
The pumpkin vines aren’t climbing up the trellis as quickly as I thought they would, but then again pumpkins vines really don’t start taking off until the end of August or early September usually.
I have to keep reminding myself of this!! 🙂 It will happen. I’ll get some pumpkins. I just have to be patient.
And for the record, I have absolutely no idea what sort of squash this is!!
At least it looks like there is a normal looking one forming on the trellis in the back garden.
We currently have 3 zucchini plants growing. 1 in a pot and 2 in the ground. So far the one in the pot is doing the best. How odd is that?
And the tomatoes. They’re finally starting to come in now.
And the alyssum out front. Holy cow it has some serious staying power! I think we planted this over 2 months ago and it’s still going strong.
And the hot pink yarrow. That’s been in bloom for a while now too.
And my pinky purple hibiscus plants are really coming on too. I only wish the blooms would last a little longer than they do.
My first year of having dahlias in the garden has been a big success. I’ve noticed that as long as I keep deadheading them, the flowers keep on coming.
I’ll have to do a little research on dahlia varieties this winter and place an order for some pinks and coral colors to plant in the spring.
I’d like to find some pink dinner plate varieties too. If you have any favorites, I’d love to know!
And last but not least, the sedum. It should be blooming next.
I LOVE this time of year in the garden!! Everything looks so good and full of color.
What’s growing in YOUR yard these days? Curious minds want to know.

Despite multiple attempts over many years, we have never been successful in growing squash or zucchini. The borers always get them. We have tried a number of strategies, including growing them in containers, to no avail. But seeing your zucchini in the pot has inspired me to give it a go again next year. Thanks for the pictures. Looks like everything is doing well!

I love alyssum. My Mom would call it “sweet asylum” fondly. She said her mom used to call it that. It always makes me smile and think of her when I see it.
