It’s been two weeks since I’ve checked in and boy did it go by fast! I do have to say that not having Ms. Mavis over my shoulder relaxed my spending a little. Not anything totally shocking but I did buy a pair of shoes that I probably didn’t need to buy.
I have been needing to buy HB girl new dress shoes, she has grown out of hers, so I stopped by DSW one day while working in that area. I haven’t been in that store in over two years. I forgot how many shoes they have. Well on this particular day they were having an extra 20% off any shoe bought. I found a pair on the sale rack for HB girl and then started looking for myself. Oops, I should have just walked out but I didn’t and there they were, a pair of black heeled open toe and heel with strap shoes. They were so comfortable, on the sale rack plus an extra 20% off.
Like I said I didn’t NEED them but I walk a lot for work and am very hard on my shoes. This pair I can wear to work as well as on days I want to dress a little trendy. I love them! By the way HB girl didn’t like hers so I had to take hers back but didn’t look for me a second time. Just in and out. So that’s progress.
That’s actually one of the things I admire about her. Anyway we were walking and I was talking and she all of a sudden asked, “Can I go with you?” At first I thought, that’s an interesting question, you know I am going to work? But she explained how she would be working too while I was working and then we could do a few things together before and after.
She really liked the hotels I was staying at and they were both downtown so she could walk around and sight see. So I thought why not? And with that we set out on our adventure.
But she was my voice of reason and choose to “think about it until the next day” . We didn’t go back and I am not a member, yay! Now I must say that if Ms. Mavis hadn’t been there I too would have not been there. But it was nice having company and getting out and about.
As far as groceries, I have been on task. I didn’t take any pictures of this weeks {or last weeks} purchases. I Didn’t go to Costco last week but will be going this week. I plan on sticking to that every other week thing as it has really cut my budget just doing that!!!
Well, that’s it for today. I’ll check in again next month,

Those EOS balls! I HATE how so much seems left over and needs to be excavated! I left my EOS in the car one very hot day last summer. The ball was closed and placed upside down. Guess what? It melted into the open cavity and, once it cooled i used it for many more applications without needing to be an archaeologist to access the balm.

You can use their container to make your own (tinted or not) lip balm. You pop that frame out of the bottom, screw it onto the lid, make your balm, then pour it into the lid through the frame, enough to fill the frame. Then pop the frame back onto the base.

I do the same and make my own lip balm too.

Mrs. HB – I think you are way way way too hard on yourself! I think some what you are doing with Miss Mavis is really good but sometimes – well does the word EXTREME come to mind? I know that when we had a more formal dress code at work, clothes and shoes were an important part of the job and did factor into promotions, presentations etc. Ratty shoes detract from one’s self and people do notice it. I have no idea if you were out of control before, but you aren’t now EVEN without Miss Mavis to guide you along!!! I know about needing a lot of sleep. But since I wake up about midnight with leg cramps it takes things out of me. ANd the cough – that is tiring and can be debilitating!!! which means you need more sleep. Just wanted to come to your defense Mrs. HB and say you are doing great and don’t let anyone get you down!!!!!

Much appreciated!

Gotta agree with Mrs. HB about lip balm. I have one on my end table with my books in the living room, one in my purse and 3 on my dresser that I rotate between. I only like Carmex and like Mrs. HB, if I go a few hours, you can literally watch the skin flake and peel on my lips. If I go to bed without putting it on, either dh or I get up to remedy that!!

I am willing to bet Mavis was swooning over your trade show loot. It is an impressive haul of mostly quality items. I am in the process of moving and have a few weeks left before my movers come and I am amazed at the ‘samples’ and ‘promotional products’ I have accumulated over the 34 months I’ve lived in Georgia. I get as excited as the next person because the feeling of a ‘freebie’ is euphoric, but it also creates clutter and excess unnecessary stuff and waste and I often forget about the item. I’m in the use it or loose it mode now, desperately trying to use it up or decide if it is worth moving with the weight allowance we are allocated.

Donate it if you can .

Hey there Ms. HB!!
You can also use the EPA balls as little containers for jewelry and small what nots by popping that cage out. You are doing a great job, don’t you forget it. I’m also a member of your lip balm/chapstick club. We are all ok, we just need moist lips!

I have very fair skin also and the lip balm struggle is real! I started making my own a couple years ago when I couldn’t keep up the Burt’s Bees/EOS habit because of $$$. I have no less than 25 lip balms at all times 😀 On my list to figure out is that EOS raspberry/pomegranate. I love that flavor!

About that cough…. Please see a doctor. It could be cough-variant asthma or something else that could be fixed. My daughter was misdiagnosed and suffered for 6 months until we lucked out with an urgent care doc who was a lung specialist. He recognized that she had cough-variant asthma right away. She was 18. You can get it at any age.
