It was business as usual in the food department. Extremely simple meals. But you know what? I don’t mind one bit.
I keep thinking that at some point I’ll get tired of eating the same thing over and over again, but I haven’t yet.
What is wrong with me???
Steel cut oats or toast with jam for breakfast. Avocado toast or a big salad for linner. Why would I want to deviate from something that takes less than 5 minutes to make?
Maybe I need to head back to the library and check out a few cookbooks. Maybe that would inspire me to try something new?
I keep thinking I am going to snap out of this no cooking phase, but so far it hasn’t happened. Not really.
Yes I’ve canned a few things this year and yes I’ve made a few meals from scratch {adding extra things to salad kits totally doesn’t count} but as far as spending an entire day in the kitchen or seeing something online that I just have to try hasn’t happened yet this year.
Why is that? Am I just too tired? Lazy? Content with the same old same old? I haven’t got a clue. Maybe you’re in the same boat, or maybe this is the year that you’re cooking up a storm and just can’t stop.
And well if it is, maybe I can come over for dinner. 🙂 I’ll bring the salad.
Halloween is friday. Can you believe it? This year is zipping by!

After not having a kitchen since we moved in Feb 1, and just having our range hooked up for the first time this weekend, I plan to cook a bunch this winter. I’m so sick of toaster oven meals!!! We finally have running water in the kitchen & can do dishes, too, so it’s full steam ahead now. I can’t wait to make soups!

The older I get the less I want to cook. Maybe it’s all the years of having to plan three meals a day? I used to love to cook and create things but more often than not, now, I choose the easiest option. I made two meals yesterday and some Apple Cider Donut Whoopie pies and now I don’t want to cook again until next weekend.

Completely agree with you! 55 + years of cooking and I’ve had it! I will eat the same thing happily every day.. a lasagna can last for at least three days!

Agreed Dawn! I’m 63 now and cooked all my life. I don’t give a flying flip if I eat popcorn for supper most nights anymore. Easy peasy!

I didn’t get married until 46 so when I was married (I’m now 50), I cooked all the time. But this past spring/summer I was more distracted by quilting and would lose track of time to have gotten anything thawing. But, now that we’re into fall, I have every intention of getting back to doing more cooking. But….still quilting and last weekend, went apple picking, then picked pears, and then picked the quince in our back yard. So, I spent the weekend working on processing apples. I hope I can get all of that fruit taken care of in the next couple of days and then can mentally get back to where I want to do some cooking. Its definitely soup season!

It isn’t you Mavis. I think we all go thru seasons…and some are just eating to survive (and doing it easily lol). Then we get a kick for baking bread, making casseroles, slow cookers…etc…same with canning. I find i get on a kick to eat eggs every morning…for a while and it fades…then its a kick for a supper element. (I do live alone so…leftovers rock in my world).
Just don’t lose the drive for seed starting :-p. I am already thinking about seed starting (moved so I have to adjust my brain back to the more northern of zone 5, from the far southern of zone 6 …)

Does your husband have feelings about eating the same foods every day? I get bored with foods/meals quickly, so if I had to eat the same thing multiple days, I just won’t eat. The same goes with my husband. Maybe we just haven’t found the “it” foods you have. Something nourishing and satisfying. I really dislike cooking after so many years of parenting and with a big family. I have kids with sensory quirks that add to the “fun” of dinner. 8 people in a home means a lot of likes and dislikes. I can’t please everyone with every meal. Haha. But there will be a day in the not-so-distant future, I will miss feeding my family.

I get bored also if I eat the same things too often. I wonder about different cultures and if they eat mostly the same ethnic foods most of the time; Chinese, Mexican, Indian, Vietnamese, etc. I love to cook and am always trying something new.

I’m the same way with eating the same things all the time. If I get a hankering for something, I’ll cook it then keep eating it every day until either 1) it’s gone or 2) I get tired of it and freeze it for another meal, lol.
I’ve discovered a new YT channel called AllRecipes. The host is named Nicole and she has wonderful, short videos that have quick/easy or skillet or crockpot meals. I actually did one of them today and it was delish! Might be worth a looksee for something new to try?
