The Girl is here for a few days and yesterday after packing up the orders from the weekend, we set off to mail them. We were only planning to go to the post office and back… but it was so nice out on the water, we decided to take the long way home. And I’m so glad we did. 🙂
We spotted a giant fish {shark? swordfish?} swarming around a lobster pot but it got away before we could get a good photo {BUT IT WAS HUGE AND SCARY LOOKING!}. Gaaa! It’s a good thing we didn’t fall in.
We even passed a couple of lighthouses along the way.
And then we got hungry so we stopped for snacks for the trip home.
Neither of us are big soda drinkers… but we spotted Sprites and Cokes in glass bottles and well, real cane sugar in soda, we just couldn’t resist. {Corn, tomatoes, carrots and coconuts! What a healthy snack.}
The dinghy dock.
It was a good day. Sunny and 70 degrees. We had fun on the water, worked on expanding the garden {again} and made a pie. Seriously, what more could you ask for this time of year?
Before you know it we’ll be lighting fires in the woodstove and wearing flannel again.
I’m going to miss summer when it’s gone, but I think I’m looking forward to winter even more. 🙂
Have a great day everyone,
~Mavis

I keep saying I am ready for winter and then my husband says that as soon as it is cold I will be ready for summer! Yes he is right!

so can you go swimming near your property or is the water too cold?
Mavis Butterfield says
I have no idea. But I have zero interest in swimming in any area that has seals or sharks. 🙂
Mellie says
I completely agree. Once you are in the water you have entered the food chain.

Is that an engagement/wedding ring on your daughter’s finger??? 🙂

I love swimming in the ocean. We lived in Hawaii when the movie Jaws came out. Didn’t faze my brothers, I, or the locals. We did like it that the beaches were a little less crowded for awhile. Lol When my oldest child was a toddler, we vacationed in Maine. It was beautiful and I’ve always wanted to go back. The water was colder than I was used to, but the state was gorgeous and the people were very friendly.
