Scale

8 oz Brussels sprouts
1/2 sweet onion, chopped
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  2. Trim the Brussels sprouts, add them to the boiling water, and cook for 3 -4 minutes or until bright green.
  3. Strain the Brussels sprouts, and place them into the ice-water bath until cool. Slice sprouts in  half.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
  5. Add sliced onions and Brussels sprouts.
  6. Cool until the sprouts are nicely browned and the onions are translucent {about 4 – 5 minutes}.
