Sadly there are no master carvers residing in this house. We typically make the Handsome Husband gut the pumpkins for us first before we go all high tech and use a steak knife to cut triangles for the eyes, nose and mouth, while he hovers over us yelling, BE CAREFUL. Until he finally cracks and pulls out his leatherman tool and finishes the carving himself. Oh the holidays, aren’t they great?
What about YOUR family?
Have you ever carved something super cool, or do you just stick to circles and triangles too?

I know the others require more skill but I like the first one best. Thanks for sharing… (I might try that one)
Mavis says
Me too. I like the first one the best as well.
Heidi says
I like the first pumpkin too.
Mavis, shouldn’t you be cooking up a storm for the million + teenagers coming to your home for dinner?
Lisa says
Good one Heidi! hahah!

I like the last one and think I just may be able to do it! However, knowing me…at the last minute there will be a slip of the knife and the head or tail will get cut off and ruin the entire thing! We do have seven pumpkins sitting on our porch that need to be carved.
Mavis says
7 pumpkins to carve? Oh boy, that is going to take some time.
Ashley says
I like the first one best, too. I think the best one I ever saw online was of a few pumpkins with their guts hanging out of their mouths (as vomit) and empty beer bottles all around them.

All triangles and basics at my house for sure!
Kids carved early. About had the life scared out of me the other night, heard what sounded like a huge hooved monster on my front deck. Got brave and opened the door (no windows near to peek out of) and it was a darned moose eating the pumpkins. =/
Mavis says
Oh my word… That is awesome. And scary!

I wished my husband only used a leatherman to cut our pumpkins but, oh no he goes all “Tim the tool man Taylor” and breaks out the sawzall and drills. It drives me CRAZY!
Mavis says
Ha! I love it!
