On the flight to England I mostly slept.
But on the flight home yesterday I was finally able to see The Ballad of Wallis Island. And it was just as fun and quirky as I thought it would be. I liked it so much that I watched it TWICE. 😉
I also watched Ford vs Ferrari. It was another winner. And that Christian Bale, he’s such a great actor!!
On the way home the HH had to make a quick stop at The Home Depot to pick up something and there was a potbelly pig walking down the main aisle.
Cute as Mr. Piggy might be, why on earth does Home Depot allow that? The same couple with the pig also had a large dog in the store as well. Was yesterday animal appreciation day? Did I miss it?
People were stopping to pet the pig and all I could think about {besides the obvious what happens when the pig goes to the bathroom in the store} is HOW MUCH EFFORT it would take to load up the pig in the car {truck?} drive it to the store, get it out of the car and walk it around and then load it up again to go home.
She missed me. {And no, I’ve never taken Lucy to Home Depot.}
The chips were a hit! The HH loved them. The chips really do taste like beef brisket. How is that even possible?
And last but not least, the tile is done! We have a working shower again. Plus the washer and dryer was delivered yesterday and we’ve already done a few loads. The plan is to have the bathroom {trim, outlets, and painting} completed by the end of the weekend.
On the agenda for today… Change out the buoys, stock up on salad things at Costco, resist taking a nap or going to bed early and pick all the tomatoes and green beans in the garden {there are SO MANY!}.
It’s good to be home!

Please say more about the buoys! Are you switching back to fall colors over Labor Day weekend?

People are stupid. Our home depot and Lowes allow animals inside but never saw a pig. I’ve seen many of those little skinny dogs shaking while site in the cart. Animals belong at home.
Katherine says
I don’t think I’m stupid. My 3 labs have gone with us to Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply and PetSmart since they were puppies. Its good socialization and it’s mentally stimulating for them. My dogs are better behaved than a lot of children and adults.
PSUCHIC06 says
It’s more the fact they are not trained service dogs. There is no reason dogs, pigs, lizards can’t stay home. And people dont have common sense…insaw a pitbull.come in and almost maul someone at Costco…because they refused to use reading comprehension… same thoughts on dogs at fairs and festivals. They are a hazard

I am with you why in the world would someone take these animals into stores! I am the first to admit I am not an animal lover-I like other peoples dogs we even took care of our son’s Rottie so so many times when he was deployed to Iraq . We even kept him for a year one time and we loved him but we sure never took him to Home Depot etc. I was just in Aldi recently and low and behold there was a Labrador in there she was HUGE (and hairy). I just don’t get it. Welcome home can’t wait to see the decorations for fall.

Welcome home!
I haven’t seen a pig at home depot, but I always enjoy the opportunity to see dogs.

Ah, such a sweet welcome home greeting from Miss Lucy! Wow, I’ve seen dogs at Home Depot, but never a pig. I don’t know. Maybe they have a ramp for the pig to get in and out of the car/truck? I’m curious how much luggage you brought with you and back on your trip. My husband and I will be going to Germany in October, and I’d like to bring back some treats unique to the region also but don’t want to have too much to cart. I love, love that vanity!
Sue says
Your bathroom choices are looking lovely! That tile floor and vanity…mmm.
I love animals, but I HATE them in stores. Registered, legitimate service animals are fine. But random pets or “emotional support” critters have no business in places of commerce.
Pigs are smarter than dogs and can be potty-trained. But they still don’t belong in stores. Feh!
What’s next–horses? Could I just ride my noble steed into Lowe’s and do my shopping from horseback?
Sue S. says
I totally agree! If I saw a pig in the store I’d complain to the manager and leave! I believe in service animals but I also believe that many people use “emotional support” as an excuse and it’s not legitimate. Maybe they could knit an emotional support chicken instead. I love seeing the dogs parading around Petco during training and I agree that many dogs are better behaved than some children and their “owners”.

I do believe yesterday was national dog day! I too have heard that pigs are very intelligent and can be trained to do all sorts of things. I would gladly stop to pet a pig 🙂 – I mean, how often do you get to pet a pig in suburban America??

Do you remember the time you came across a pony in Albertson’s? I do and I never tire of sharing that story. Racks me up every time!
Jeri says
Oh Mavis, please share the Albertson’s pony story!

I’m weird I guess because I love seeing animals in places and always stop to pet them if allowed. Sometimes I prefer animals to humans – so there’s that 🙂

Agreed !

Me too! 🙂

Me too! It ALWAYS makes my day!

So nice that you were able to go to London with your Mom! Welcome back.
I don’t believe that animals belong in stores (except pet stores I suppose). I’ve had plenty of pets throughout the years, but animals shouldn’t take priority over people. I’ve even seen animals in grocery stores which, as a nurse, I think is totally disgusting.
I’d like to hear the story about the pony in Albertson’s!
Laura says
She posted it on the blog. Maybe she will provide the link. Makes me giggle every time I think about it!

I’m a dog lover, but I don’t want to see a dog riding in the shopping cart where my food goes.
