In my love of all things BBC, I stumbled on a series called Lark Rise to Candleford.   It’s set in a small hamlet called Lark Rise during the end of the 19th century.  According to the BBC website, it is a drama based on the memoir of Flora Thompson’s childhood–though, with a little love, intrigue and drama mixed in.  Yes, please.  I can’t wait to start it.

I just started the series Land Girls.  I’m only 2 episodes in, but I LOVE it!  It’s about a group of women who were members of the Women’s Land Army {women who worked on British farms during WWII}.  The series follows the women’s lives through just about everything you might expect.  It’s awesome.

Netflix has it for free, if you are a Netflix member.

My friend, MamaJJ recommended that I watch Queen of Versailles.  It’s about a billionaire’s family–and their experience when the economic bubble popped.  Fair warning:  apparently it kind of makes you want to strangle these people, but it is jaw-dropping enough that you can’t stop watching.

In light of the holiday, I thought it might be kind of fun to start John Adams, an HBO original dramatization about none other than…John Adams and his life in early America.  A little history combined with some HBO drama.  Yes, please.  Best part is that you can stream it on Amazon without even needing pricey HBO.  Wahoo!

Friday Night at the Movies – Stardust

The Girl and I are taking a complete detour from our normal Friday night taste and are going to watch Stardust tonight.  It’s about a star {literally from the sky}, who is personified by Claire Danes that falls from the sky into an enchanted world, just beyond “the wall” of a normal English village.  The enchanted world leads to an adventure, magic, and…wait for it…yes, love.  What can I say, we are looking for a little whimsy in our life {and it doesn’t hurt that it’s FREE on Prime}.

Let me know what you think if you decide to watch it–or if you have already seen it.  Did you love it? Hate it? Can’t wait to watch it over and over?

The Girl and I have been having so much fun watching some of the old musical classics that we have decided to put them on our regular rotation for awhile.  Tonight, we are going to watch The Music Man.

I don’t know if you have ever seen it, but if you have, you know what I’m talking about when I say that I will probably be singing the train scene in my head for days after this.  If you are looking for some amusing, clean FAMILY entertainment, The Music Man is where it’s at.
