One of my goals for this year was to hook 6 large rugs. This chicken stroll rug was my 5th large rug of the year. {The pattern is by Crow Creek Farm} I started hooking it earlier this year, set it aside, and finally finished it just a few days ago.
You never quite know how a rug is going to turn out when you start it, especially when you are using all hand dyed wools. I sure wasn’t planning on hooking a blue rooster, that’s for sure. 😉
Another favorite bird chicken of mine in this rug was the dirty white /grey one. I’ve been trying to be better about using up my scrap wool lately, and It was fun to see this hen come together one wool strip at a time.
It has been a busy year for us. And while I haven’t been able to hook as many rugs these past few months as I normally would, rug hooking is still the “quiet time” hobby I love the most.
So a big rug, and two mini rugs. Those are all the rugs I hooked in November. I still think that’s pretty good.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone, I hope you have a good one. And here’s hoping you’ll have plenty of leftovers to get you through the weekend. 🙂

Tbh, I prefer the blue chicken and would have been happy if it had been fully blue. Adds a whimsical touch.

I absolutely love the colors in this rug. Great job! And the blue rooster is the standout for me. He takes center stage so the color is perfect.

I love the chicken rug! Would people really use it? I’d be afraid of damaging it – it’s a keeper!

Yes! I once had someone by one of my large rugs to place in front of their woodstove.
